Private individuals and professionals in companies all over the UK have profited from undertaking a Greek Language Course with SIMON & SIMON. Averaging 15 years of experience, our native Greek speaking qualified teachers construct your course so that your individual requirements are met, no matter what your level of experience. Our Greek teachers receive excellent feedback from our clients. A profile, containing information about the Greek teacher’s background and experience, is sent to each student before the Greek lessons start.

The way that modern languages are taught has gone through a revolution in the past few years. If you have only learned languages at school you will find that the experience now is vastly more fun and worthwhile. The Communicative Approach means that your Greek lessons in Cambridge will be almost entirely through the medium of Greek. You will feel that you are making real progress, even in the first lesson, and will soon communicate in Greek with confidence, in a range of social and business environments.

We offer Greek courses as group sessions or on a 1:1 basis/ Most of our clients offer their employees 1:1 Greek training, however, if planned carefully, with participants numbering 6 or less who commit to meeting every week, group sessions can be good value for money. Those who learn Greek at Cambridge on a 1:1 basis will find that they progress more quickly, as the lessons can be specifically tailored for their individual needs, strengths and weaknesses.

Greek Course Management

A multi-lingual Account Manager with extensive experience is responsible for each SIMON & SIMON Greek language course. A profile on your trainer, Course Plan and course materials will be sent to you when you start your Greek course. After every 40 hours of training you will receive a Progress Report. We will also send you Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter, which contains a wonderful prize draw and valuable language learning resource weblinks.

Greek language courses have been run by SIMON & SIMON in many locations. Our global network of language trainers means that any major city in the UK Europe, and beyond can hold your Greek language course. We can arrange your Greek language lessons for your own home, but many of our clients like to run them in their offices so as to minimise travel. Residential full-time Greek language courses are also available. Our office can discuss available locations with you.

Cambridge Greek Course Schedules

The Greek language courses in Cambridge that we run go on through the year. Each week, most of our students will attend at least one of our 90-minute lessons, but many will do more. We can easily arrange Weekend Courses for you. Greek courses run from Monday to Friday, any time from 8am to 8pm. Intensive Greek language courses can be arranged in residential centres abroad or in the UK, or on clients’ premises for 30 hours per week, 6 hours a day Monday to Friday.

Before you start your Greek language course we will assess your level of Greek and speak to you about your aims so that your Greek language course can be customised for you. You may have never been exposed to Greek before and wish to develop basic survival skills, or you may have some experience and wish to be able to speak more fluently in Greek when discussing business. You may want to further your ability to use Greek in negotiations and meetings or better your comprehension and pronunciation abilities. Whatever goals you may have, our experienced Greek language trainers will tailor your Greek course so that your goals can be quickly met.

Greek Language Examination Courses

We are happy to help in your preparation for any Greek examinations. Our students have a 95% pass rate and we think that their success shows the value of our policy of working with above-average experienced Greek teachers in Cambridge. Issuing of results certificates, registration for Greek examinations and administration of such exams is also provided by SIMON & SIMON.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Back to top of Greek Courses Cambridge

Greek an independent branch of the Indo-European family of languages, is the language of the Greeks. Native to the southern Balkans, it has the longest documented history of any Indo-European language, spanning 34 centuries of written records. Its writing system has been the Greek alphabet for the majority of its history; other systems, such as Linear B and the Cypriot syllabary, were previously used. The alphabet arose from the Phoenician script, and was in turn the basis of the Latin, Cyrillic, Coptic, and many other writing systems.

The city of Cambridge is a university town and the administrative centre of the county of Cambridgeshire, England. It lies in East Anglia about 50 miles (80 km) north-by-east of London. Cambridge is at the heart of the high-technology centre known as Silicon Fen – a play on Silicon Valley and the fens surrounding the city. Cambridge is well known as the home of the University of Cambridge. The university includes the renowned Cavendish Laboratory, King's College Chapel, and the Cambridge University Library. The Cambridge skyline is dominated by the last two buildings, along with the chimney of Addenbrooke's Hospital in the far south of the city and St John's College Chapel tower in the north. According to the United Kingdom Census 2001, the city's population was 108,863 (including 22,153 students), and the population of the urban area (which includes parts of the neighbouring South Cambridgeshire district) is estimated to be 130,000.
