With an average of 15 years’ experience, the native German speakers of SIMON & SIMON’s qualified teaching team tailor each course for the specific requirements of the student, from absolute novices to those with some experience.
Our clients reliably give excellent feedback on our German teachers. Each of our students receives an information profile on the background and experience of their German teacher before they commence their German lessons. The way that modern languages are taught has gone through a revolution in the past few years. If you have only learned languages at school you will find that the experience now is vastly more fun and worthwhile.
The Communicative Approach means that your German lessons in Oxfordshire will be almost entirely through the medium of German. You will feel that you are making real progress, even in the first lesson, and will soon communicate in German with confidence, in a range of social and business environments. Our German language courses are available on both a 1:1 and group basis, but the majority of our clients offer 1:1 German training to their employees. However, with careful planning, group training can offer great value for money, provided there is a real commitment from the participants to get together at the same time every week. We strongly recommend you keep group numbers to 6 or less for these types of courses to be successful.
Those learning German in at Oxfordshire on a 1:1 basis will naturally make much faster progress, as the course will be designed around their individual needs and focus on their particular strengths and weaknesses. German Course ManagementEvery SIMON & SIMON German language course is overseen by one of our highly experienced Account Managers, all of whom are multi-lingual.
At the start of your German language course we will send you a profile on your trainer, followed by a Course Plan and relevant course materials, and then a Progress Report after every 40 hours of training. You will also receive a copy of our quarterly newsletter, Breaking the Language Barrier, featuring a superb prize draw and invaluable weblinks to language learning sources. Our intensive German language courses run for 30 hours per week, (6 hours per day Monday - Friday), and take place on our clients' premises or at a residential centre here in the UK or abroad. You may be a complete beginner looking for day-to-day German survival language skills, or a more proficient German speaker needing to improve your fluency when discussing areas such as law, banking, finance, insurance, sales, travel, marketing, and administration.
You may want to focus on improving your German for meetings, discussions and negotiations, or to concentrate on improving your listening comprehension, pronunciation and telephone skills.
Whatever your needs, working with one of our highly experienced German language trainers you can be confident that the content of your German language course will be tailored just for you and that you will soon be meeting your objectives. German Language Examination CoursesWe can also help prepare you for German examinations of a business or general nature. We are proud to say our students have a 95% pass rate in language examinations, and their success further underlines the value we place on working with German teachers in Oxfordshire with above average experience.
As part of our service, SIMON & SIMON will also organise the registration and administration of German examinations and the issuing of result certificates. The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.
Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

SIMON & SIMON International Breaking the Language Barrier Back to top of German Courses Oxfordshire German is a West Germanic language, thus related to and classified alongside English and Dutch. It is one of the world's major languages and the most widely spoken first language in the European Union. Globally, German is spoken by approximately 120 million native speakers and also by about 80 million non-native speakers. Standard German is widely taught in schools, universities and Goethe Institutes worldwide.
German is primarily spoken in Germany (where it is the first language for more than 95% of the population), Austria (89%) and Switzerland (65%). German is also spoken by the majority of the populations of Luxembourg and Liechtenstein.
Other European German-speaking communities are found in Northern Italy (in the Province of Bolzano-Bozen and in some municipalities in other provinces), in the East Cantons of Belgium, in the French regions of Alsace and Lorraine, and in some border villages of the former South Jutland County (in German, Nordschleswig, in Danish, Sønderjylland) of Denmark. Oxfordshire is a county in the South East region of England, bordering on Warwickshire, Northamptonshire (to the north/northeast), Buckinghamshire (to the east), Berkshire (to the south), Wiltshire and Swindon (to the southwest), Gloucestershire (to the west) and Warwickshire (to the north).
It is divided into five local government districts: Oxford, Cherwell, Vale of White Horse (after the Uffington White Horse), West Oxfordshire and South Oxfordshire.
The county has a major tourist industry. The area is noted for the concentration of performance motorsport companies and facilities. Oxford University Press is the largest firm among a concentration of print and publishing firms; the University of Oxford is also linked to the concentration of local biotechnology companies.
The main centre of population is the city of Oxford. Other significant settlements are Banbury, Bicester, Kidlington, and Chipping Norton to the north of Oxford; Witney to the west; Thame and Chinnor to the east; and Abingdon, Wantage, Didcot, Wallingford and Henley-on-Thames to the south. Future population growth in the county is hoped to be concentrated around Oxford, Banbury, Bicester, Didcot and Witney, near the South Midlands growth area.
The highest point of the administrative county is White Horse Hill, in the Vale of White Horse, reaching 261 metres (856 ft). The highest point in the historic county is near Portobello Farm in the Chiltern Hills at 255 metres.
Oxfordshire's county flower is the Snake's-head Fritillary.
