Designed and customised for the individual student’s needs, SIMON & SIMON’s German courses, taught by a team of qualified native German speakers who average 15 years of experience, have already benefited professionals and non-professionals across the UK. Courses cater for all levels of experience. The feedback on our German tutors that we receive from our clients is consistently excellent. Prior to the start of your German course, you will be sent a profile on your specific German teacher’s experience and background.

If you have only studied languages before at school you will find that teaching approaches to modern language training have changed enormously in recent years - it's now a lot more fun and a far more rewarding experience! Your teacher will conduct your German lesson in Gloucester almost entirely in German - a method known as the Communicative Approach - and you will find yourself making progress from the very first lesson and soon growing in the confidence to communicate in German in a variety of social and business situations.

We offer German courses as group sessions or on a 1:1 basis/ Most of our clients offer their employees 1:1 German training, however, if planned carefully, with participants numbering 6 or less who commit to meeting every week, group sessions can be good value for money. Those who learn German at Gloucester on a 1:1 basis will find that they progress more quickly, as the lessons can be specifically tailored for their individual needs, strengths and weaknesses.

German Course Management

One of our highly experienced, multilingual Account managers oversees each SIMON & SIMON German language course. On starting your German course you will receive various materials including a profile on your trainer, a Course Plan and course materials and a Progress Report on every 40 hours of your training. Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter, which contains weblinks to various language learning sources and a prize draw, will also be sent to you.

SIMON & SIMON’s German language courses have been run for clients in many different locations. With a global network of language trainers a German language course can be held in almost any major city throughout Europe and elsewhere. We can arrange German language courses in your home or, as many of our clients prefer, in your offices to remove the need for you to travel. Full-time residential German language courses are also an option. For a list of locations, please contact our office.

Gloucester German Course Schedules

Our German language courses in Gloucester take place throughout the year. Many of our students try to attend more than one weekly lesson if work commitments allow, and most will attend at least one session of 90-minutes duration per week. If you would like a Weekend Course, one can be arranged. Our German daytime courses run from 8am through to 8pm, Monday - Friday. We also provide Intensive German language courses on clients’ premises or in residential centres both in the UK and abroad. These courses run for 30 hours of the week, 6 hours a day from Monday to Friday.

The German language course that you undertake will be customised for your German level and personal goals. Before you start the course, we will speak to you about your desired focus and assess you German level. You may have little or no experience of German and only want basic conversational skills or you may be more proficient and desire more fluency with which to discuss business. You may want to raise your German skills for use in meetings and negotiations or rather develop increased comprehension and pronunciation skills. Whatever your objectives, our German language trainers are highly experienced, and you can be confident that your personalised German course will help you to meet your goals quickly.

German Language Examination Courses

SIMON & SIMON also assists in preparation for German examinations, whether for business or personal qualification. We believe that our 95% pass rate for language examinations is a reflection of our policy of working with German teachers in Gloucester who possess above average experience. Registration for and administration of German examinations, along with the issuing of results certificates are all provided by SIMON & SIMON.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

German is a West Germanic language, thus related to and classified alongside English and Dutch. It is one of the world's major languages and the most widely spoken first language in the European Union. Globally, German is spoken by approximately 120 million native speakers and also by about 80 million non-native speakers. Standard German is widely taught in schools, universities and Goethe Institutes worldwide. German is primarily spoken in Germany (where it is the first language for more than 95% of the population), Austria (89%) and Switzerland (65%). German is also spoken by the majority of the populations of Luxembourg and Liechtenstein. Other European German-speaking communities are found in Northern Italy (in the Province of Bolzano-Bozen and in some municipalities in other provinces), in the East Cantons of Belgium, in the French regions of Alsace and Lorraine, and in some border villages of the former South Jutland County (in German, Nordschleswig, in Danish, Sønderjylland) of Denmark.

Gloucester is a city, district and county town of Gloucestershire in the South West region of England. Gloucester lies close to the Welsh border, and on the River Severn, approximately 32 miles (51 km) north-east of Bristol, and 45 miles (72 km) south-southwest of Birmingham. Gloucester was founded in AD 48 by the Romans as Glevum, and was granted its first charter in 1155 by King Henry II. Economically, the city is dominated by the service industries, and has a strong financial and business sector, being home to the bank Cheltenham & Gloucester and historically was prominent in the aerospace industry. The existence of a British settlement at Gloucester (Caer Glow, Gleawecastre, Gleucestre) is not confirmed by any direct evidence, but Gloucester was the Roman municipality of Colonia Nervia Glevensium, or Glevum, founded in the reign of Nerva. Parts of the walls can be traced, and many remains and coins have been found, though inscriptions are scarce.
