Both professionals and non-professionals alike have seen great benefits from a SIMON & SIMON German Language Course. SIMON & SIMON’s team of qualified German teachers is made up of native speakers who average 15 years of experience. These teachers will make sure that a course is tailored for your specific needs so that you will benefit regardless of your language proficiency. Feedback from clients on our German tutors is consistently highly positive. Our students are sent a profile containing information on their specific teacher’s experience and background before the start of their German Lessons.

If the only experience you have of studying a language is from your time in school, you may not know that there has been a revolution in the teaching of modern languages so that it is both more fun and more worthwhile. Your German teacher in East Sussex will be using the Communicative Approach, where your lessons will, with few exceptions, be conducted in German. You will see your progress from that very first lesson and will soon be confident enough to conduct business or talk socially in German.

German courses from us can be run for groups or individuals. While many of our clients offer their employees German courses on a 1:1 basis, group sessions can be excellent value. Group sessions do require planning and commitment from the participants and we recommend that no more than 6 people participate in a group. As 1:1 lessons can be tailored to an individual’s needs, strengths and weaknesses, learning German in East Sussex on a 1:1 basis will give quicker progress.

German Course Management

One of our highly experienced, multilingual Account managers oversees each SIMON & SIMON German language course. On starting your German course you will receive various materials including a profile on your trainer, a Course Plan and course materials and a Progress Report on every 40 hours of your training. Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter, which contains weblinks to various language learning sources and a prize draw, will also be sent to you.

The German language courses of SIMON & SIMON have been run in numerous locations. As we have a global network of language trainers your German language course can be arranged in major cities across Europe and further afield. Most of our clients arrange for their German lessons to be run in their offices so that there is less need for travel, but we can also run German lessons in your home. We also run residential full-time German language courses in a variety of locations which our office will be happy to inform you of.

East Sussex German Course Schedules

Our German language courses in East Sussex run throughout the year. The majority of our students attend at least one 90-minute session per week and many students will try to do more than one session depending on work commitments. Our German teachers are available Monday - Friday from 8am - 8pm, and Weekend Courses can also be arranged on request. Our intensive German language courses run for 30 hours per week, (6 hours per day Monday - Friday), and take place on our clients' premises or at a residential centre here in the UK or abroad.

The content of your German language course will reflect your level and your particular objectives. We will assess your German language level before your course, and discuss with you in detail the subject areas you wish to focus on. You may be a complete beginner looking for day-to-day German survival language skills, or a more proficient German speaker needing to improve your fluency when discussing areas such as law, banking, finance, insurance, sales, travel, marketing, and administration. You may want to focus on improving your German for meetings, discussions and negotiations, or to concentrate on improving your listening comprehension, pronunciation and telephone skills. Whatever your needs, working with one of our highly experienced German language trainers you can be confident that the content of your German language course will be tailored just for you and that you will soon be meeting your objectives.

German Language Examination Courses

We can also help prepare you for German examinations of a business or general nature. We are proud to say our students have a 95% pass rate in language examinations, and their success further underlines the value we place on working with German teachers in East Sussex with above average experience. As part of our service, SIMON & SIMON will also organise the registration and administration of German examinations and the issuing of result certificates.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

German is a West Germanic language, thus related to and classified alongside English and Dutch. It is one of the world's major languages and the most widely spoken first language in the European Union. Globally, German is spoken by approximately 120 million native speakers and also by about 80 million non-native speakers. Standard German is widely taught in schools, universities and Goethe Institutes worldwide. German is primarily spoken in Germany (where it is the first language for more than 95% of the population), Austria (89%) and Switzerland (65%). German is also spoken by the majority of the populations of Luxembourg and Liechtenstein. Other European German-speaking communities are found in Northern Italy (in the Province of Bolzano-Bozen and in some municipalities in other provinces), in the East Cantons of Belgium, in the French regions of Alsace and Lorraine, and in some border villages of the former South Jutland County (in German, Nordschleswig, in Danish, Sønderjylland) of Denmark.

East Sussex is a county in South East England. It is bordered by the counties of Kent, Surrey and West Sussex, and to the south by the English Channel. East Sussex is part of the ancient kingdom of the South Saxons, who established themselves there in the fifth century AD, after the departure of the Romans, although the area had been populated for many thousands of years before then. Archaeological remains are plentiful, especially in the upland areas. The area's position on the coast has also meant that there were many invaders, including the Romans and later the Normans. Earlier industries have included fishing, iron-making, and the wool trade, all of which have declined, or lost completely. The ancient kingdom of Sussex has had two separate county administrations since the 12th century, with the county town of the eastern division being Lewes. This situation was formalised by Parliament in 1865, and the two parts were given distinct elected county councils in 1889 under the Local Government Act 1888. In East Sussex there were also three self-administered county boroughs: Brighton, Eastbourne and Hastings.
