New teaching approaches have revolutionised how modern language training is now approached. This training, with more fun and a more worthwhile experience means that it’s a far cry from what you may remember of studying languages in school.
When you start a German course in Brighton, you will make progress from the very first lesson, as almost everything will be done in German. This is known as the Communicative Approach, and means that your confidence and ability will soon grow so that you can use German to communicate in social and business settings. Our German language courses are available on both a 1:1 and group basis, but the majority of our clients offer 1:1 German training to their employees. However, with careful planning, group training can offer great value for money, provided there is a real commitment from the participants to get together at the same time every week. We strongly recommend you keep group numbers to 6 or less for these types of courses to be successful.
Those learning German in at Brighton on a 1:1 basis will naturally make much faster progress, as the course will be designed around their individual needs and focus on their particular strengths and weaknesses. German Course ManagementOne of our highly experienced, multilingual Account managers oversees each SIMON & SIMON German language course.
On starting your German course you will receive various materials including a profile on your trainer, a Course Plan and course materials and a Progress Report on every 40 hours of your training. Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter, which contains weblinks to various language learning sources and a prize draw, will also be sent to you. SIMON & SIMON has arranged German language courses for clients in numerous locations, and with our global network of language trainers we can organise a German language course for you wherever you are - in almost any major city in the UK, Europe and beyond.
The vast majority of our German lessons take place at our clients' offices, removing the need for you to travel, but German lessons can take place in your home if that is more convenient.
We can also arrange full-time residential German language courses for you - just contact our office for information on available destinations. Brighton German Course SchedulesOur German language courses in Brighton take place throughout the year. Many of our students try to attend more than one weekly lesson if work commitments allow, and most will attend at least one session of 90-minutes duration per week.
If you would like a Weekend Course, one can be arranged. Our German daytime courses run from 8am through to 8pm, Monday - Friday.
We also provide Intensive German language courses on clients’ premises or in residential centres both in the UK and abroad. These courses run for 30 hours of the week, 6 hours a day from Monday to Friday. The German language course that you undertake will be customised for your German level and personal goals. Before you start the course, we will speak to you about your desired focus and assess you German level.
You may have little or no experience of German and only want basic conversational skills or you may be more proficient and desire more fluency with which to discuss business.
You may want to raise your German skills for use in meetings and negotiations or rather develop increased comprehension and pronunciation skills.
Whatever your objectives, our German language trainers are highly experienced, and you can be confident that your personalised German course will help you to meet your goals quickly. German Language Examination CoursesSIMON & SIMON also assists in preparation for German examinations, whether for business or personal qualification. We believe that our 95% pass rate for language examinations is a reflection of our policy of working with German teachers in Brighton who possess above average experience.
Registration for and administration of German examinations, along with the issuing of results certificates are all provided by SIMON & SIMON. The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.
Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

SIMON & SIMON International Breaking the Language Barrier Back to top of German Courses Brighton German is a West Germanic language, thus related to and classified alongside English and Dutch. It is one of the world's major languages and the most widely spoken first language in the European Union. Globally, German is spoken by approximately 120 million native speakers and also by about 80 million non-native speakers. Standard German is widely taught in schools, universities and Goethe Institutes worldwide.
German is primarily spoken in Germany (where it is the first language for more than 95% of the population), Austria (89%) and Switzerland (65%). German is also spoken by the majority of the populations of Luxembourg and Liechtenstein.
Other European German-speaking communities are found in Northern Italy (in the Province of Bolzano-Bozen and in some municipalities in other provinces), in the East Cantons of Belgium, in the French regions of Alsace and Lorraine, and in some border villages of the former South Jutland County (in German, Nordschleswig, in Danish, Sønderjylland) of Denmark. Brighton is the major part of the city of Brighton and Hove (formed from the previous towns of Brighton, Hove, Portslade and several other villages) in East Sussex on the south coast of Great Britain. For administrative purposes, Brighton and Hove is not part of the non-metropolitan county of East Sussex, but remains part of the ceremonial county of East Sussex, within the historic County of Sussex.
The ancient settlement of Brighthelmstone dates from before Domesday Book (1086), but it emerged as a health resort featuring sea bathing during the 18th century and became a destination for day-trippers from London after the arrival of the railway in 1841. Brighton experienced rapid population growth, reaching a peak of over 160,000 by 1961. Modern Brighton forms part of the Brighton/Worthing/Littlehampton conurbation stretching along the coast, with a population of around 480,000.
Brighton has long been renowned throughout the UK and Europe as gay-friendly, and is home to a large LGBT community. Eight million tourists a year visit Brighton. The city has a substantial business conference industry regularly hosting the Liberal Democrats, Labour Party, Conservative Party and Trade Union annual conferences. Brighton has two universities and a medical school.
