Our German teachers receive excellent feedback from our clients. A profile, containing information about the German teacher’s background and experience, is sent to each student before the German lessons start.
Modern language teaching is now approached much differently to how you might remember learning languages in school. The experience is now much more fun and rewarding.
The Communicative Approach, where your German teacher will conduct your lessons almost entirely in German means that progress is made from your very first lesson. Soon, you will have such confidence that using German in a social or business setting will be no problem. German courses from us can be run for groups or individuals. While many of our clients offer their employees German courses on a 1:1 basis, group sessions can be excellent value. Group sessions do require planning and commitment from the participants and we recommend that no more than 6 people participate in a group.
As 1:1 lessons can be tailored to an individual’s needs, strengths and weaknesses, learning German in Birmingham on a 1:1 basis will give quicker progress. German Course ManagementA multi-lingual Account Manager with extensive experience is responsible for each SIMON & SIMON German language course.
A profile on your trainer, Course Plan and course materials will be sent to you when you start your German course. After every 40 hours of training you will receive a Progress Report. Before you start your German language course we will assess your level of German and speak to you about your aims so that your German language course can be customised for you. You may have never been exposed to German before and wish to develop basic survival skills, or you may have some experience and wish to be able to speak more fluently in German when discussing business. You may want to further your ability to use German in negotiations and meetings or better your comprehension and pronunciation abilities. Whatever goals you may have, our experienced German language trainers will tailor your German course so that your goals can be quickly met. German Language Examination CoursesWe are happy to help in your preparation for any German examinations. Our students have a 95% pass rate and we think that their success shows the value of our policy of working with above-average experienced German teachers in Birmingham.
Issuing of results certificates, registration for German examinations and administration of such exams is also provided by SIMON & SIMON. The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.
Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

SIMON & SIMON International Breaking the Language Barrier Back to top of German Courses Birmingham German is a West Germanic language, thus related to and classified alongside English and Dutch. It is one of the world's major languages and the most widely spoken first language in the European Union. Globally, German is spoken by approximately 120 million native speakers and also by about 80 million non-native speakers. Standard German is widely taught in schools, universities and Goethe Institutes worldwide.
German is primarily spoken in Germany (where it is the first language for more than 95% of the population), Austria (89%) and Switzerland (65%). German is also spoken by the majority of the populations of Luxembourg and Liechtenstein.
Other European German-speaking communities are found in Northern Italy (in the Province of Bolzano-Bozen and in some municipalities in other provinces), in the East Cantons of Belgium, in the French regions of Alsace and Lorraine, and in some border villages of the former South Jutland County (in German, Nordschleswig, in Danish, Sønderjylland) of Denmark. Birmingham is a city and metropolitan borough in the West Midlands county of England. It is the most populous British city outside London, with a population of 1,028,700 (2009 estimate), and lies at the heart of the West Midlands conurbation, the United Kingdom's second most populous urban area with a population of 2,284,093 (2001 census). Birmingham's metropolitan area, which includes surrounding towns to which it is closely tied through commuting, is also the United Kingdom's second most populous with a population of 3,683,000.
Birmingham was a powerhouse of the Industrial Revolution in England, a fact which led to it being known as "the workshop of the world" or the "city of a thousand trades". Although Birmingham's industrial importance has declined, it has developed into a national commercial centre, being named in 2010 as the third-best place in the United Kingdom to locate a business. Birmingham is a national hub for conferences, retail and events along with an established high tech, research and development sector, supported by its three Universities. It is also the fourth-most visited city by foreign visitors in the UK, has the second-largest city economy in the UK. Birmingham is ranked as a gamma- world city by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network.
In 2010, Birmingham was ranked as the 55th-most livable city in the world, according to the Mercer Index of worldwide standards of living.
