Private individuals and professionals in companies all over the UK have profited from undertaking a French Language Course with SIMON & SIMON. Averaging 15 years of experience, our native French speaking qualified teachers construct your course so that your individual requirements are met, no matter what your level of experience. Our French teachers receive excellent feedback from our clients. A profile, containing information about the French teacher’s background and experience, is sent to each student before the French lessons start.

Maybe your only knowledge of studying languages is what you remember from school. Modern language teaching has recently changed to be much more entertaining and rewarding. Your French lessons in Stoke-on-Trent will be carried out almost completely in French. This is the Communicative Approach and by this method you will notice progress from the initial lesson. You will soon feel confident and able to use French to communicate in various business and social situations.

Our French language courses are available on both a 1:1 and group basis, but the majority of our clients offer 1:1 French training to their employees. However, with careful planning, group training can offer great value for money, provided there is a real commitment from the participants to get together at the same time every week. We strongly recommend you keep group numbers to 6 or less for these types of courses to be successful. Those learning French in at Stoke-on-Trent on a 1:1 basis will naturally make much faster progress, as the course will be designed around their individual needs and focus on their particular strengths and weaknesses.

French Course Management

SIMON & SIMON’s French language courses all have a specific Account Manager who oversee the course. Each of these managers is highly experienced and multi-lingual. At the start of your French course, you will receive a profile on your trainer, course materials and a Course Plan. After every 40 hours of training you will receive a Progress Report. We will send you our quarterly newsletter, Breaking the Language Barrier, which contains a wonderful prize draw as well as weblinks to valuable language learning resources.

French language courses have been run by SIMON & SIMON in many locations. Our global network of language trainers means that any major city in the UK Europe, and beyond can hold your French language course. We can arrange your French language lessons for your own home, but many of our clients like to run them in their offices so as to minimise travel. Residential full-time French language courses are also available. Our office can discuss available locations with you.

Stoke-on-Trent French Course Schedules

Our French language courses in Stoke-on-Trent take place throughout the year. Many of our students try to attend more than one weekly lesson if work commitments allow, and most will attend at least one session of 90-minutes duration per week. If you would like a Weekend Course, one can be arranged. Our French daytime courses run from 8am through to 8pm, Monday - Friday. We also provide Intensive French language courses on clients’ premises or in residential centres both in the UK and abroad. These courses run for 30 hours of the week, 6 hours a day from Monday to Friday.

The French language course that you undertake will be customised for your French level and personal goals. Before you start the course, we will speak to you about your desired focus and assess you French level. You may have little or no experience of French and only want basic conversational skills or you may be more proficient and desire more fluency with which to discuss business. You may want to raise your French skills for use in meetings and negotiations or rather develop increased comprehension and pronunciation skills. Whatever your objectives, our French language trainers are highly experienced, and you can be confident that your personalised French course will help you to meet your goals quickly.

French Language Examination Courses

SIMON & SIMON also assists in preparation for French examinations, whether for business or personal qualification. We believe that our 95% pass rate for language examinations is a reflection of our policy of working with French teachers in Stoke-on-Trent who possess above average experience. Registration for and administration of French examinations, along with the issuing of results certificates are all provided by SIMON & SIMON.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Back to top of French Courses Stoke-on-Trent

French is a Romance language spoken as a first language by around 136 million people worldwide. A total of 500 million speak it as either a first, second, and foreign language. Moreover, some 200 million people learn French as a foreign language. French speaking communities are present in 56 countries and territories. Most native speakers of the language live in France, the rest live essentially in Canada, particularly Quebec, a minority in New Brunswick and Maine, as well as Belgium, Switzerland, Monaco, Luxembourg and Louisiana. Most second-language speakers of French live in Francophone Africa, arguably exceeding the number of native speakers.

Stoke-on-Trent is a city in Staffordshire, England, which forms a linear conurbation almost 12 miles (19 km) long, with an area of 36 square miles (93 km2). Together with the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme Stoke forms The Potteries Urban Area. This, together with the rural Staffordshire Moorlands area, forms North Staffordshire, which in 2001, had a population of 457,165. The conurbation continues to be polycentric, having been formed by the federation of six originally separate towns and numerous villages in the early-20th century. The settlement from which the federated town (not a city until 1925) took its name was Stoke-upon-Trent, because this was where the administration (and chief mainline railway station) was located. After the union, Hanley emerged as the primary commercial centre in the city, despite the efforts of its rival, Burslem. The three other component towns are Tunstall, Longton, and Fenton. Stoke-on-Trent is considered to be the home of the pottery industry in England and is commonly known as The Potteries. Formerly a primarily industrial conurbation, it is now a centre for service industries and distribution centres.
