Private individuals and professionals in companies all over the UK have profited from undertaking a French Language Course with SIMON & SIMON. Averaging 15 years of experience, our native French speaking qualified teachers construct your course so that your individual requirements are met, no matter what your level of experience. Our French teachers receive excellent feedback from our clients. A profile, containing information about the French teacher’s background and experience, is sent to each student before the French lessons start.

The way that modern languages are taught has gone through a revolution in the past few years. If you have only learned languages at school you will find that the experience now is vastly more fun and worthwhile. The Communicative Approach means that your French lessons in Shropshire will be almost entirely through the medium of French. You will feel that you are making real progress, even in the first lesson, and will soon communicate in French with confidence, in a range of social and business environments.

French courses from us can be run for groups or individuals. While many of our clients offer their employees French courses on a 1:1 basis, group sessions can be excellent value. Group sessions do require planning and commitment from the participants and we recommend that no more than 6 people participate in a group. As 1:1 lessons can be tailored to an individual’s needs, strengths and weaknesses, learning French in Shropshire on a 1:1 basis will give quicker progress.

French Course Management

One of our highly experienced, multilingual Account managers oversees each SIMON & SIMON French language course. On starting your French course you will receive various materials including a profile on your trainer, a Course Plan and course materials and a Progress Report on every 40 hours of your training. Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter, which contains weblinks to various language learning sources and a prize draw, will also be sent to you.

SIMON & SIMON has arranged French language courses for clients in numerous locations, and with our global network of language trainers we can organise a French language course for you wherever you are - in almost any major city in the UK, Europe and beyond. The vast majority of our French lessons take place at our clients' offices, removing the need for you to travel, but French lessons can take place in your home if that is more convenient. We can also arrange full-time residential French language courses for you - just contact our office for information on available destinations.

Shropshire French Course Schedules

We run our French language courses in Shropshire all through the year. Many of our students, if work commitments allow, will attend more than one session weekly, and the vast majority take part in at least one 90-minute lesson weekly. We also arrange weekend French courses on request. Our French programs commence from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday. Intensive 30 hour per week French language courses, held on clients’ premises or at residential centres in the UK or abroad, are also available on a 6 hours per day basis, Monday through Friday.

Whatever your personal level of experience and future goals, your French course will be customised for you. Before you start the course we will assess your level of French and discuss in detail what you would like to focus on. You may desire simply to gain everyday French skills from the level of a complete beginner, or you may have more experience in French and want to improve your ability to discuss banking, finance or marketing. You may want to develop improved pronunciation and comprehension skills or improve your French for use in negotiations and meetings. Whatever your goals and needs, our highly experienced French language trainers will tailor your French course so that your goals will be met quickly.

French Language Examination Courses

If you are taking a French examination, for business or other reasons, we are happy to help you with your preparations. We are very proud of the 95% pass rate of our students in language examinations. We believe this highlights the value of working with French teachers in Shropshire whose experience is above average. SIMON & SIMON can also register you for your French examination, administer the examination and issue you your results.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Back to top of French Courses Shropshire

French is a Romance language spoken as a first language by around 136 million people worldwide. A total of 500 million speak it as either a first, second, and foreign language. Moreover, some 200 million people learn French as a foreign language. French speaking communities are present in 56 countries and territories. Most native speakers of the language live in France, the rest live essentially in Canada, particularly Quebec, a minority in New Brunswick and Maine, as well as Belgium, Switzerland, Monaco, Luxembourg and Louisiana. Most second-language speakers of French live in Francophone Africa, arguably exceeding the number of native speakers.

Shropshire is a county in the West Midlands region of England. It borders Wales to the west. Shropshire is one of England's most rural and sparsely populated counties with a population density of 91/km2 (337/sq mi). The shire county and its districts were replaced by a unitary authority on 1 April 2009. The borough of Telford and Wrekin, included in Shropshire for ceremonial purposes, has been a unitary authority since 1998. The county is centred around six main towns starting with the county town of Shrewsbury, which is culturally and historically important, although Telford, which was constructed around a number of older towns, most notably Wellington, Dawley and Madeley, is today the most populous. The other main towns are Oswestry in the north-west, Newport to the east, Bridgnorth in the south-east, and Ludlow to the south. Whitchurch and Market Drayton in the north of the county are also of notable size. The Ironbridge Gorge area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, covering Ironbridge, Coalbrookdale and a part of Madeley. There are, additionally, other notable historic industrial sites located around the county, such as Broseley, Snailbeach and Highley as well as the Shropshire Union Canal.
