All over the UK, private individuals and professionals in a variety of companies have gained benefits by taking part in a French Language Course from SIMON & SIMON. With an average of 15 years’ experience, the native French speakers of SIMON & SIMON’s qualified teaching team tailor each course for the specific requirements of the student, from absolute novices to those with some experience. Our clients reliably give excellent feedback on our French teachers. Each of our students receives an information profile on the background and experience of their French teacher before they commence their French lessons.

If the only experience you have of studying a language is from your time in school, you may not know that there has been a revolution in the teaching of modern languages so that it is both more fun and more worthwhile. Your French teacher in Northampton will be using the Communicative Approach, where your lessons will, with few exceptions, be conducted in French. You will see your progress from that very first lesson and will soon be confident enough to conduct business or talk socially in French.

Our French courses are usually offered by our clients as 1:1 training for their employees. Group sessions, however, are also available and can be excellent value for money. Planning is required so that participants all meet at the same time each week, and we recommend that numbers are kept to 6 or less. 1:1 French lessons at Northampton mean that you will have your individual needs, weaknesses and strengths catered for, so that your progress is quicker.

French Course Management

Each of SIMON & SIMON’s French languages courses is the responsibility of a multi-lingual, very experienced Account Manager. When you start your French course, you will receive your trainer’s profile. Thereafter we will send you a Course Plan, materials for the course and, after each 40 hours of training, a Progress Report. Our quarterly newsletter, Breaking the Language Barrier, will also reach you, and contains a prize draw as well as the weblinks of language learning resources.

French language courses have been run by SIMON & SIMON in many locations. Our global network of language trainers means that any major city in the UK Europe, and beyond can hold your French language course. We can arrange your French language lessons for your own home, but many of our clients like to run them in their offices so as to minimise travel. Residential full-time French language courses are also available. Our office can discuss available locations with you.

Northampton French Course Schedules

We run our French language courses in Northampton all through the year. Many of our students, if work commitments allow, will attend more than one session weekly, and the vast majority take part in at least one 90-minute lesson weekly. We also arrange weekend French courses on request. Our French programs commence from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday. Intensive 30 hour per week French language courses, held on clients’ premises or at residential centres in the UK or abroad, are also available on a 6 hours per day basis, Monday through Friday.

Whatever your personal level of experience and future goals, your French course will be customised for you. Before you start the course we will assess your level of French and discuss in detail what you would like to focus on. You may desire simply to gain everyday French skills from the level of a complete beginner, or you may have more experience in French and want to improve your ability to discuss banking, finance or marketing. You may want to develop improved pronunciation and comprehension skills or improve your French for use in negotiations and meetings. Whatever your goals and needs, our highly experienced French language trainers will tailor your French course so that your goals will be met quickly.

French Language Examination Courses

If you are taking a French examination, for business or other reasons, we are happy to help you with your preparations. We are very proud of the 95% pass rate of our students in language examinations. We believe this highlights the value of working with French teachers in Northampton whose experience is above average. SIMON & SIMON can also register you for your French examination, administer the examination and issue you your results.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

French is a Romance language spoken as a first language by around 136 million people worldwide. A total of 500 million speak it as either a first, second, and foreign language. Moreover, some 200 million people learn French as a foreign language. French speaking communities are present in 56 countries and territories. Most native speakers of the language live in France, the rest live essentially in Canada, particularly Quebec, a minority in New Brunswick and Maine, as well as Belgium, Switzerland, Monaco, Luxembourg and Louisiana. Most second-language speakers of French live in Francophone Africa, arguably exceeding the number of native speakers.

Northampton is a large market town and local government district in the East Midlands region of England. It is about 67 miles (108 km) north-west of London and around 50 miles (80 km) south-east of Birmingham, and lies on the River Nene. It is the county town of Northamptonshire. The district's population is 200,100 and the town population is 189,474, making Northampton the 22nd-largest settlement in England, and the UK's 4th-largest town without official city status, after Reading, Dudley and Milton Keynes. Northampton is the most populous district in England that is not a unitary authority, a status it failed to obtain in the 1990s local government reform. Northampton's population has increased greatly since the 1960s, largely due to planned expansion under the New Towns Commission in the early 1970s. Remains found here date from the Bronze Age. Farming settlement probably began around the 7th century AD. In the 8th century it was an administrative centre for the kingdom of Mercia. The pre-Norman town was known as Hamtun and was only ca0.60 acres (2,400 m2).
