Both professionals and non-professionals alike have seen great benefits from a SIMON & SIMON French Language Course. SIMON & SIMON’s team of qualified French teachers is made up of native speakers who average 15 years of experience. These teachers will make sure that a course is tailored for your specific needs so that you will benefit regardless of your language proficiency. Feedback from clients on our French tutors is consistently highly positive. Our students are sent a profile containing information on their specific teacher’s experience and background before the start of their French Lessons.

New teaching approaches have revolutionised how modern language training is now approached. This training, with more fun and a more worthwhile experience means that it’s a far cry from what you may remember of studying languages in school. When you start a French course in Bedfordshire, you will make progress from the very first lesson, as almost everything will be done in French. This is known as the Communicative Approach, and means that your confidence and ability will soon grow so that you can use French to communicate in social and business settings.

Our French language courses are available on both a 1:1 and group basis, but the majority of our clients offer 1:1 French training to their employees. However, with careful planning, group training can offer great value for money, provided there is a real commitment from the participants to get together at the same time every week. We strongly recommend you keep group numbers to 6 or less for these types of courses to be successful. Those learning French in at Bedfordshire on a 1:1 basis will naturally make much faster progress, as the course will be designed around their individual needs and focus on their particular strengths and weaknesses.

French Course Management

One of our highly experienced, multilingual Account managers oversees each SIMON & SIMON French language course. On starting your French course you will receive various materials including a profile on your trainer, a Course Plan and course materials and a Progress Report on every 40 hours of your training. Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter, which contains weblinks to various language learning sources and a prize draw, will also be sent to you.

SIMON & SIMON has arranged French language courses for clients in numerous locations, and with our global network of language trainers we can organise a French language course for you wherever you are - in almost any major city in the UK, Europe and beyond. The vast majority of our French lessons take place at our clients' offices, removing the need for you to travel, but French lessons can take place in your home if that is more convenient. We can also arrange full-time residential French language courses for you - just contact our office for information on available destinations.

Bedfordshire French Course Schedules

Our French language courses in Bedfordshire take place throughout the year. Many of our students try to attend more than one weekly lesson if work commitments allow, and most will attend at least one session of 90-minutes duration per week. If you would like a Weekend Course, one can be arranged. Our French daytime courses run from 8am through to 8pm, Monday - Friday. We also provide Intensive French language courses on clients’ premises or in residential centres both in the UK and abroad. These courses run for 30 hours of the week, 6 hours a day from Monday to Friday.

The French language course that you undertake will be customised for your French level and personal goals. Before you start the course, we will speak to you about your desired focus and assess you French level. You may have little or no experience of French and only want basic conversational skills or you may be more proficient and desire more fluency with which to discuss business. You may want to raise your French skills for use in meetings and negotiations or rather develop increased comprehension and pronunciation skills. Whatever your objectives, our French language trainers are highly experienced, and you can be confident that your personalised French course will help you to meet your goals quickly.

French Language Examination Courses

SIMON & SIMON also assists in preparation for French examinations, whether for business or personal qualification. We believe that our 95% pass rate for language examinations is a reflection of our policy of working with French teachers in Bedfordshire who possess above average experience. Registration for and administration of French examinations, along with the issuing of results certificates are all provided by SIMON & SIMON.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Back to top of French Courses Bedfordshire

French is a Romance language spoken as a first language by around 136 million people worldwide. A total of 500 million speak it as either a first, second, and foreign language. Moreover, some 200 million people learn French as a foreign language. French speaking communities are present in 56 countries and territories. Most native speakers of the language live in France, the rest live essentially in Canada, particularly Quebec, a minority in New Brunswick and Maine, as well as Belgium, Switzerland, Monaco, Luxembourg and Louisiana. Most second-language speakers of French live in Francophone Africa, arguably exceeding the number of native speakers.

Bedfordshire is a ceremonial county of historic origin in England that forms part of the East of England region. It borders Cambridgeshire to the north-east, Northamptonshire to the north, Buckinghamshire to the west and Hertfordshire to the south-east. The highest elevation point is 243 metres (797 ft) on Dunstable Downs in the Chilterns. As part of a 2002 marketing campaign, the plant conservation charity Plantlife chose the Bee Orchid as the county flower. The traditional nickname for people from Bedfordshire is "Bedfordshire Bulldogs" or "Clangers", this last deriving from a local dish comprising a suet crust dumpling filled with meat or jam or both. The first recorded use of the name was in 1011 as "Bedanfordscir," meaning the shire or county of Bedford, which itself means "Beda's ford" (river crossing). Bedfordshire was historically divided into the nine hundreds: Barford, Biggleswade, Clifton, Flitt, Manshead, Redbournestoke, Stodden, Willey, Wixamtree, along with the liberty and borough of Bedford. There have been several minor changes to the county boundary; for example, in 1897 Kensworth and part of Caddington were transferred from Hertfordshire to Bedfordshire.
