Many professionals in companies across the UK, as well as private individuals, have benefited from an French Language Course with SIMON & SIMON. We have a terrific team of qualified native-speaker French teachers, and with an average of 15 years' experience they will ensure you benefit from a course designed specifically around your needs, whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced learner with more specialised requirements. We consistently receive excellent feedback on our French tutors from our clients, and we send our students a profile on their French tutor prior to their French lessons commencing, with information on the tutor's background and experience.

New teaching approaches have revolutionised how modern language training is now approached. This training, with more fun and a more worthwhile experience means that it’s a far cry from what you may remember of studying languages in school. When you start a French course in Bath, you will make progress from the very first lesson, as almost everything will be done in French. This is known as the Communicative Approach, and means that your confidence and ability will soon grow so that you can use French to communicate in social and business settings.

The French courses that we offer can be run as 1:1 or group sessions. While most of our clients use 1:1 French training for their employees, group sessions can be good value. Participants numbers should be kept to 6 or less, and they will need to commit to meeting every week. If you require faster progress, 1:1 French courses at Bath are more suitable as the lessons and course can be tailored to the individual’s needs while focusing on their specific weaknesses and strengths.

French Course Management

SIMON & SIMON’s French language courses all have a specific Account Manager who oversee the course. Each of these managers is highly experienced and multi-lingual. At the start of your French course, you will receive a profile on your trainer, course materials and a Course Plan. After every 40 hours of training you will receive a Progress Report. We will send you our quarterly newsletter, Breaking the Language Barrier, which contains a wonderful prize draw as well as weblinks to valuable language learning resources.

The French language courses of SIMON & SIMON have been run in numerous locations. As we have a global network of language trainers your French language course can be arranged in major cities across Europe and further afield. Most of our clients arrange for their French lessons to be run in their offices so that there is less need for travel, but we can also run French lessons in your home. We also run residential full-time French language courses in a variety of locations which our office will be happy to inform you of.

Bath French Course Schedules

Our French language courses in Bath run throughout the year. The majority of our students attend at least one 90-minute session per week and many students will try to do more than one session depending on work commitments. Our French teachers are available Monday - Friday from 8am - 8pm, and Weekend Courses can also be arranged on request. Our intensive French language courses run for 30 hours per week, (6 hours per day Monday - Friday), and take place on our clients' premises or at a residential centre here in the UK or abroad.

The content of your French language course will reflect your level and your particular objectives. We will assess your French language level before your course, and discuss with you in detail the subject areas you wish to focus on. You may be a complete beginner looking for day-to-day French survival language skills, or a more proficient French speaker needing to improve your fluency when discussing areas such as law, banking, finance, insurance, sales, travel, marketing, and administration. You may want to focus on improving your French for meetings, discussions and negotiations, or to concentrate on improving your listening comprehension, pronunciation and telephone skills. Whatever your needs, working with one of our highly experienced French language trainers you can be confident that the content of your French language course will be tailored just for you and that you will soon be meeting your objectives.

French Language Examination Courses

We can also help prepare you for French examinations of a business or general nature. We are proud to say our students have a 95% pass rate in language examinations, and their success further underlines the value we place on working with French teachers in Bath with above average experience. As part of our service, SIMON & SIMON will also organise the registration and administration of French examinations and the issuing of result certificates.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

French is a Romance language spoken as a first language by around 136 million people worldwide. A total of 500 million speak it as either a first, second, and foreign language. Moreover, some 200 million people learn French as a foreign language. French speaking communities are present in 56 countries and territories. Most native speakers of the language live in France, the rest live essentially in Canada, particularly Quebec, a minority in New Brunswick and Maine, as well as Belgium, Switzerland, Monaco, Luxembourg and Louisiana. Most second-language speakers of French live in Francophone Africa, arguably exceeding the number of native speakers.

Bath is a city in the ceremonial county of Somerset in the south west of England. It is situated 97 miles (156 km) west of London and 13 miles (21 km) south-east of Bristol. The population of the city is 83,992.It was granted city status by Royal Charter by Queen Elizabeth I in 1590,and was made a county borough in 1889 which gave it administrative independence from its county, Somerset. The city became part of Avon when that county was created in 1974. Since 1996, when Avon was abolished, Bath has been the principal centre of the unitary authority of Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES). The city was first established as a spa resort with the Latin name, Aquae Sulis ("the waters of Sulis") by the Romans in AD 43 although verbal tradition suggests that Bath was known before then. They built baths and a temple on the surrounding hills of Bath in the valley of the River Avon around hot springs, which are the only ones naturally occurring in the United Kingdom. Edgar was crowned king of England at Bath Abbey in 973.Much later, it became popular as a spa resort during the Georgian era, which led to a major expansion that left a heritage of exemplary Georgian architecture crafted from Bath Stone. The City of Bath was inscribed as a World Heritage Site in 1987. The city has a variety of theatres, museums, and other cultural and sporting venues.
