SIMON & SIMON has arranged English language courses for clients in numerous locations, and with our global network of language trainers we can organise a English language course for you wherever you are - in almost any major city in the UK, Europe and beyond. The vast majority of our English lessons take place at our clients' offices, removing the need for you to travel, but English lessons can take place in your home if that is more convenient. We can also arrange full-time residential English language courses for you - just contact our office for information on available destinations.

Nottingham English Course Schedules

Our English language courses in Nottingham go on all year. Some of our students attend more than one 90-minute weekly session if work circumstances allow, and most will attend at least one per week. Weekend Courses in English can be arranged on request. Our English courses are available 12 hours a day, from 8am to 8pm Monday through Friday. 30 hour per week intensive English courses can be held on clients’ premises or in residential centres in the UK or abroad. These courses take 6 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

We will tailor your English language course for your specific aims and level of knowledge. Before you start your English language course we will assess your goals and level of English experience. Your desire to learn English may be simply to develop basic skills, or you may have some level of proficiency and wish to increase your ability to use English to discuss business. You may want to develop your language skills so that you can use English in negotiations and meetings or improve your pronunciation and telephone skills. No matter what goals you have, you can be confident of our English trainers experience and that your English language course is tailored to your needs and your goals will be quickly met.

English Language Examination Courses

Our students’ pass rate for English examinations is at 95%, and we are happy to help with the preparations for any such examination. Our high pass rate shows the value of working with English teachers in Nottingham who have a higher level of experience than average. SIMON & SIMON also arrange registration for English examinations as well as administering the examination and issuing the results.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

English is a West Germanic language that arose in the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms of England and spread into what was to become south-east Scotland under the influence of the Anglian medieval kingdom of Northumbria. Following the economic, political, military, scientific, cultural, and colonial influence of Great Britain and the United Kingdom from the 18th century, via the British Empire, and of the United States since the mid-20th century, it has been widely dispersed around the world, become the leading language of international discourse, and has acquired use as lingua franca in many regions. Nottingham is a city and unitary authority area in the East Midlands region of the United Kingdom. It is located in the ceremonial county of Nottinghamshire, and is one of eight members of the English Core Cities Group. Whilst the City of Nottingham has a historically tightly drawn boundary which accounts for its relatively small population of 288,700, the wider Nottingham Urban Area has a population of 667,000 and is the seventh-largest urban area in the United Kingdom, ranking between those of Liverpool and Sheffield. Eurostat's Larger Urban Zone listed the areas population at 825,600 as of 2004. When it fell under the rule of a Saxon chieftain named Snot it became known as "Snotingaham"; the homestead of Snot's people (Inga = the people of; Ham = homestead). Snot brought together his people in an area now known as the Lace Market.
