English Course Management

With a global network of language trainers a English language course can be held in almost any major city throughout Europe and elsewhere. We can arrange English language courses in your home or, as many of our clients prefer, in your offices to remove the need for you to travel. Hertfordshire English Course Schedules

Our English language courses in Hertfordshire take place throughout the year. Many of our students try to attend more than one weekly lesson if work commitments allow, and most will attend at least one session of 90-minutes duration per week. If you would like a Weekend Course, one can be arranged. Our English daytime courses run from 8am through to 8pm, Monday - Friday. We also provide Intensive English language courses on clients’ premises or in residential centres both in the UK and abroad. These courses run for 30 hours of the week, 6 hours a day from Monday to Friday.

The English language course that you undertake will be customised for your English level and personal goals. Before you start the course, we will speak to you about your desired focus and assess you English level. You may have little or no experience of English and only want basic conversational skills or you may be more proficient and desire more fluency with which to discuss business. You may want to raise your English skills for use in meetings and negotiations or rather develop increased comprehension and pronunciation skills. Whatever your objectives, our English language trainers are highly experienced, and you can be confident that your personalised English course will help you to meet your goals quickly.

English Language Examination Courses

SIMON & SIMON also assists in preparation for English examinations, whether for business or personal qualification. We believe that our 95% pass rate for language examinations is a reflection of our policy of working with English teachers in Hertfordshire who possess above average experience. Registration for and administration of English examinations, along with the issuing of results certificates are all provided by SIMON & SIMON.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

English is a West Germanic language that arose in the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms of England and spread into what was to become south-east Scotland under the influence of the Anglian medieval kingdom of Northumbria. Hertfordshire is a ceremonial and non-metropolitan county in the East region of England. The county town is Hertford. The county is one of the Home Counties and lies inland, bordered by Greater London (to the south), Buckinghamshire (to the west), Bedfordshire (including the unitary authorities of Luton and Central Bedfordshire to the north), Cambridgeshire (to the north east) and Essex (to the east). Hertfordshire was originally the area assigned to a fortress constructed at Hertford under the rule of Edward the Elder in 913. The name Hertford is derived from the Anglo-Saxon heort ford, meaning deer crossing (of a watercourse). The name Hertfordshire first appears in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle in 1011. Deer feature prominently in many county emblems. There is evidence of human beings living in Hertfordshire since the Middle Stone Age. It was first farmed during the Neolithic period and permanent habitation appeared at the beginning of the Bronze Age. This was followed by tribes settling in the area during the Iron Age.
