Private individuals and professionals in companies all over the UK have profited from undertaking a English Language Course with SIMON & SIMON. Averaging 15 years of experience, our native English speaking qualified teachers construct your course so that your individual requirements are met, no matter what your level of experience. Our English teachers receive excellent feedback from our clients. A profile, containing information about the English teacher’s background and experience, is sent to each student before the English lessons start.

If the only experience you have of studying a language is from your time in school, you may not know that there has been a revolution in the teaching of modern languages so that it is both more fun and more worthwhile. Your English teacher in Harrogate will be using the Communicative Approach, where your lessons will, with few exceptions, be conducted in English. You will see your progress from that very first lesson and will soon be confident enough to conduct business or talk socially in English.

Both 1:1 and group formats are available for our English language courses. While most of our clients offer 1:1 English training, the group format can offer great value for money. If you want groups to be successful, the members must commit to the weekly meetings and we recommend keeping the number of participants below 7. Progress is faster for those who learn English in Harrogate on a 1:1 basis as the lessons are individually tailored for their particular needs, strengths and weaknesses.

Every SIMON & SIMON English language course has a highly experienced, multi-lingual Account Manager who oversees it. Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter that you will also receive, contains a prize draw as well as weblinks to a number of learning resources.

We have a global network of language trainers so our English language courses can be arranged for almost any major European city, or even further abroad. SIMON & SIMON have run English language courses for clients in many diverse locations. English language courses can be run in your home for your convenience, but many of our clients prefer to run them in their offices so as to minimise travel. Harrogate English Course Schedules

The English language courses in Harrogate that we run go on through the year. Each week, most of our students will attend at least one of our 90-minute lessons, but many will do more. We can easily arrange Weekend Courses for you. English courses run from Monday to Friday, any time from 8am to 8pm. Intensive English language courses can be arranged in residential centres abroad or in the UK, or on clients’ premises for 30 hours per week, 6 hours a day Monday to Friday.

Before you start your English language course we will assess your level of English and speak to you about your aims so that your English language course can be customised for you. You may have never been exposed to English before and wish to develop basic survival skills, or you may have some experience and wish to be able to speak more fluently in English when discussing business. You may want to further your ability to use English in negotiations and meetings or better your comprehension and pronunciation abilities. Whatever goals you may have, our experienced English language trainers will tailor your English course so that your goals can be quickly met.

English Language Examination Courses

We are happy to help in your preparation for any English examinations. Our students have a 95% pass rate and we think that their success shows the value of our policy of working with above-average experienced English teachers in Harrogate. Issuing of results certificates, registration for English examinations and administration of such exams is also provided by SIMON & SIMON.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Back to top of English Courses Harrogate

English is a West Germanic language that arose in the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms of England and spread into what was to become south-east Scotland under the influence of the Anglian medieval kingdom of Northumbria. Following the economic, political, military, scientific, cultural, and colonial influence of Great Britain and the United Kingdom from the 18th century, via the British Empire, and of the United States since the mid-20th century, it has been widely dispersed around the world, become the leading language of international discourse, and has acquired use as lingua franca in many regions. It is widely learned as a second language and used as an official language of the European Union and many Commonwealth countries, as well as in many world organizations. It is the third most natively spoken language in the world, after Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.

Harrogate (or Harrogate Spa) is a spa town in North Yorkshire, England. The town is a tourist destination and some of its visitor attractions include its spa waters, RHS Harlow Carr gardens, and Bettys Tea Rooms, that internationally sells Fat Rascals. The town serves as a location from which to explore the nearby Yorkshire Dales national park. Harrogate originated in the 17th century, with High Harrogate and Low Harrogate as two separate settlements. It lies adjacent to Knaresborough, with which it forms a single urban area, and is in the Nidd valley. Harrogate spa water contains iron, sulphur and common salt. The town became known as 'The English Spa' in the Georgian Era, after its waters were first discovered in the sixteenth century. In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries especially, these 'chalybeate' waters (i.e. containing iron) were a popular health treatment, and the influx of wealthy but sickly visitors contributed significantly to the wealth of the town. Harrogate railway station and Harrogate bus station in the town centre provide transport connections. Leeds Bradford International Airport is 10 miles (16 km) south west of Harrogate. The main road through the town is the A61, connecting Harrogate to Leeds and Ripon. Harrogate is also connected to Wetherby and the A1, by the A661.
