English Courses for Business in Gloucestershire

Many professionals in companies across the UK, as well as private individuals, have benefited from an English Language Course with SIMON & SIMON. We have a terrific team of qualified native-speaker English teachers, and with an average of 15 years' experience they will ensure you benefit from a course designed specifically around your needs, whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced learner with more specialised requirements. We consistently receive excellent feedback on our English tutors from our clients, and we send our students a profile on their English tutor prior to their English lessons commencing, with information on the tutor's background and experience.

If you have only studied languages before at school you will find that teaching approaches to modern language training have changed enormously in recent years - it's now a lot more fun and a far more rewarding experience! Your teacher will conduct your English lesson in Gloucestershire almost entirely in English - a method known as the Communicative Approach - and you will find yourself making progress from the very first lesson and soon growing in the confidence to communicate in English in a variety of social and business situations.

Our English language courses are available on both a 1:1 and group basis, but the majority of our clients offer 1:1 English training to their employees. However, with careful planning, group training can offer great value for money, provided there is a real commitment from the participants to get together at the same time every week. We strongly recommend you keep group numbers to 6 or less for these types of courses to be successful. Those learning English in at Gloucestershire on a 1:1 basis will naturally make much faster progress, as the course will be designed around their individual needs and focus on their particular strengths and weaknesses.

English Course Management

Each of SIMON & SIMON’s English languages courses is the responsibility of a multi-lingual, very experienced Account Manager. When you start your English course, you will receive your trainer’s profile. Thereafter we will send you a Course Plan, materials for the course and, after each 40 hours of training, a Progress Report. Our quarterly newsletter, Breaking the Language Barrier, will also reach you, and contains a prize draw as well as the weblinks of language learning resources.

SIMON & SIMON English language courses have been arranged for clients in various locations. We have a global network of trainers and wherever you are, we will be able to organise a English language course for you, not only in the UK but in almost any of the major cities in Europe and beyond. Most of our English courses are run at the offices of our clients so that you do not have to travel, but we are happy to arrange English training sessions for you in your home. Full-time English courses can be arranged in a residential setting for you. Our office has information on the locations we offer.

Gloucestershire English Course Schedules

Our English language courses in Gloucestershire go on all year. Some of our students attend more than one 90-minute weekly session if work circumstances allow, and most will attend at least one per week. Weekend Courses in English can be arranged on request. Our English courses are available 12 hours a day, from 8am to 8pm Monday through Friday. 30 hour per week intensive English courses can be held on clients’ premises or in residential centres in the UK or abroad. These courses take 6 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

We will tailor your English language course for your specific aims and level of knowledge. Before you start your English language course we will assess your goals and level of English experience. Your desire to learn English may be simply to develop basic skills, or you may have some level of proficiency and wish to increase your ability to use English to discuss business. You may want to develop your language skills so that you can use English in negotiations and meetings or improve your pronunciation and telephone skills. No matter what goals you have, you can be confident of our English trainers experience and that your English language course is tailored to your needs and your goals will be quickly met.

English Language Examination Courses

Our students’ pass rate for English examinations is at 95%, and we are happy to help with the preparations for any such examination. Our high pass rate shows the value of working with English teachers in Gloucestershire who have a higher level of experience than average. SIMON & SIMON also arrange registration for English examinations as well as administering the examination and issuing the results.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Back to top of English Courses Gloucestershire

English is a West Germanic language that arose in the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms of England and spread into what was to become south-east Scotland under the influence of the Anglian medieval kingdom of Northumbria. Following the economic, political, military, scientific, cultural, and colonial influence of Great Britain and the United Kingdom from the 18th century, via the British Empire, and of the United States since the mid-20th century, it has been widely dispersed around the world, become the leading language of international discourse, and has acquired use as lingua franca in many regions. It is widely learned as a second language and used as an official language of the European Union and many Commonwealth countries, as well as in many world organizations. It is the third most natively spoken language in the world, after Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.

Gloucestershire is a county in South West England. The county comprises part of the Cotswold Hills, part of the flat fertile valley of the River Severn, and the entire Forest of Dean. The county town is the city of Gloucester, and other principal towns include Cheltenham, Cirencester, Stroud, and Tewkesbury. When considered as a ceremonial county, Gloucestershire borders the preserved county of Gwent in Wales (now Monmouthshire), and in England the ceremonial counties of Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Somerset and Bristol. Ceremonially, it includes the area covered by the South Gloucestershire unitary authority. According to a 2002 campaign by the charity Plantlife, the county flower of Gloucestershire is the Wild Daffodil. Gloucestershire is a historic county mentioned in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle in the 10th century, though the areas of Winchcombe and the Forest of Dean were not added until the late 11th century. Gloucestershire originally included the "small town" of Bristol. The "local" rural community moved to the port city, (as Bristol was to become) and Bristol's population growth accelerated during the industrial revolution. Bristol became part of the administrative County of Avon in 1974.
