Dutch Courses for Business in Sussex

Please click a title below for further information:

All over the UK, private individuals and professionals in a variety of companies have gained benefits by taking part in a Dutch Language Course from SIMON & SIMON. With an average of 15 years’ experience, the native Dutch speakers of SIMON & SIMON’s qualified teaching team tailor each course for the specific requirements of the student, from absolute novices to those with some experience. Our clients reliably give excellent feedback on our Dutch teachers. Each of our students receives an information profile on the background and experience of their Dutch teacher before they commence their Dutch lessons.

Modern language teaching is now approached much differently to how you might remember learning languages in school. The experience is now much more fun and rewarding. The Communicative Approach, where your Dutch teacher will conduct your lessons almost entirely in Dutch means that progress is made from your very first lesson. Soon, you will have such confidence that using Dutch in a social or business setting will be no problem.

The Dutch courses that we offer can be run as 1:1 or group sessions. While most of our clients use 1:1 Dutch training for their employees, group sessions can be good value. Participants numbers should be kept to 6 or less, and they will need to commit to meeting every week. If you require faster progress, 1:1 Dutch courses at Sussex are more suitable as the lessons and course can be tailored to the individual’s needs while focusing on their specific weaknesses and strengths.

Dutch Course Management

One of our highly experienced, multilingual Account managers oversees each SIMON & SIMON Dutch language course. On starting your Dutch course you will receive various materials including a profile on your trainer, a Course Plan and course materials and a Progress Report on every 40 hours of your training. Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter, which contains weblinks to various language learning sources and a prize draw, will also be sent to you.

SIMON & SIMON Dutch language courses have been arranged for clients in various locations. We have a global network of trainers and wherever you are, we will be able to organise a Dutch language course for you, not only in the UK but in almost any of the major cities in Europe and beyond. Most of our Dutch courses are run at the offices of our clients so that you do not have to travel, but we are happy to arrange Dutch training sessions for you in your home. Full-time Dutch courses can be arranged in a residential setting for you. Our office has information on the locations we offer.

Sussex Dutch Course Schedules

Our Dutch language courses in Sussex run throughout the year. The majority of our students attend at least one 90-minute session per week and many students will try to do more than one session depending on work commitments. Our Dutch teachers are available Monday - Friday from 8am - 8pm, and Weekend Courses can also be arranged on request. Our intensive Dutch language courses run for 30 hours per week, (6 hours per day Monday - Friday), and take place on our clients' premises or at a residential centre here in the UK or abroad.

The content of your Dutch language course will reflect your level and your particular objectives. We will assess your Dutch language level before your course, and discuss with you in detail the subject areas you wish to focus on. You may be a complete beginner looking for day-to-day Dutch survival language skills, or a more proficient Dutch speaker needing to improve your fluency when discussing areas such as law, banking, finance, insurance, sales, travel, marketing, and administration. You may want to focus on improving your Dutch for meetings, discussions and negotiations, or to concentrate on improving your listening comprehension, pronunciation and telephone skills. Whatever your needs, working with one of our highly experienced Dutch language trainers you can be confident that the content of your Dutch language course will be tailored just for you and that you will soon be meeting your objectives.

Dutch Language Examination Courses

We can also help prepare you for Dutch examinations of a business or general nature. We are proud to say our students have a 95% pass rate in language examinations, and their success further underlines the value we place on working with Dutch teachers in Sussex with above average experience. As part of our service, SIMON & SIMON will also organise the registration and administration of Dutch examinations and the issuing of result certificates.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Dutch is a West Germanic language and the native language of the majority of the population of the Netherlands, Belgium, and Suriname, the three member states of the Dutch Language Union. Most speakers live in the European Union, where it is a first language for about 23 million and a second language for another 5 million people. It also holds official status in the Caribbean island nations of Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint-Maarten, while historical minorities remain in parts of France and Germany, and to a lesser extent, in Indonesia, and up to 600,000 native Dutch-speakers may be living in the United States, Canada, and Australia.

Sussex is an historic county in South East England corresponding roughly in area to the ancient Kingdom of Sussex. It is bounded on the north by Surrey, east by Kent, south by the English Channel, and west by Hampshire, and is divided for local government into West Sussex and East Sussex and the city of Brighton and Hove. The city of Brighton & Hove was created a unitary authority in 1997; and was granted City status in 2000. Until then Chichester had been Sussex's only city. The divisions of West Sussex and East Sussex were first established in 1189, and had obtained separate administrations (Quarter Sessions) by the 16th century. This situation was recognised by the County of Sussex Act 1865. Under the Local Government Act 1888 the two divisions became two administrative counties (along with three county boroughs: Brighton, Hastings and, from 1911, Eastbourne). The appellation Sussex remained in use as a ceremonial county until 1974, when the Lord-Lieutenant of Sussex was replaced with one each for East and West Sussex. The whole of Sussex has had a single police force since 1968.
