Dutch Courses for Business in Reading

Please click a title below for further information:

Designed and customised for the individual student’s needs, SIMON & SIMON’s Dutch courses, taught by a team of qualified native Dutch speakers who average 15 years of experience, have already benefited professionals and non-professionals across the UK. Courses cater for all levels of experience. The feedback on our Dutch tutors that we receive from our clients is consistently excellent. Prior to the start of your Dutch course, you will be sent a profile on your specific Dutch teacher’s experience and background.

If you have only studied languages before at school you will find that teaching approaches to modern language training have changed enormously in recent years - it's now a lot more fun and a far more rewarding experience! Your teacher will conduct your Dutch lesson in Reading almost entirely in Dutch - a method known as the Communicative Approach - and you will find yourself making progress from the very first lesson and soon growing in the confidence to communicate in Dutch in a variety of social and business situations.

The Dutch courses that we offer can be run as 1:1 or group sessions. While most of our clients use 1:1 Dutch training for their employees, group sessions can be good value. Participants numbers should be kept to 6 or less, and they will need to commit to meeting every week. If you require faster progress, 1:1 Dutch courses at Reading are more suitable as the lessons and course can be tailored to the individual’s needs while focusing on their specific weaknesses and strengths.

Dutch Course Management

Every SIMON & SIMON Dutch language course is overseen by one of our highly experienced Account Managers, all of whom are multi-lingual. At the start of your Dutch language course we will send you a profile on your trainer, followed by a Course Plan and relevant course materials, and then a Progress Report after every 40 hours of training. You will also receive a copy of our quarterly newsletter, Breaking the Language Barrier, featuring a superb prize draw and invaluable weblinks to language learning sources.

SIMON & SIMON has arranged Dutch language courses for clients in numerous locations, and with our global network of language trainers we can organise a Dutch language course for you wherever you are - in almost any major city in the UK, Europe and beyond. The vast majority of our Dutch lessons take place at our clients' offices, removing the need for you to travel, but Dutch lessons can take place in your home if that is more convenient. We can also arrange full-time residential Dutch language courses for you - just contact our office for information on available destinations.

Reading Dutch Course Schedules

Our Dutch language courses in Reading take place throughout the year. Many of our students try to attend more than one weekly lesson if work commitments allow, and most will attend at least one session of 90-minutes duration per week. If you would like a Weekend Course, one can be arranged. Our Dutch daytime courses run from 8am through to 8pm, Monday - Friday. We also provide Intensive Dutch language courses on clients’ premises or in residential centres both in the UK and abroad. These courses run for 30 hours of the week, 6 hours a day from Monday to Friday.

The Dutch language course that you undertake will be customised for your Dutch level and personal goals. Before you start the course, we will speak to you about your desired focus and assess you Dutch level. You may have little or no experience of Dutch and only want basic conversational skills or you may be more proficient and desire more fluency with which to discuss business. You may want to raise your Dutch skills for use in meetings and negotiations or rather develop increased comprehension and pronunciation skills. Whatever your objectives, our Dutch language trainers are highly experienced, and you can be confident that your personalised Dutch course will help you to meet your goals quickly.

Dutch Language Examination Courses

SIMON & SIMON also assists in preparation for Dutch examinations, whether for business or personal qualification. We believe that our 95% pass rate for language examinations is a reflection of our policy of working with Dutch teachers in Reading who possess above average experience. Registration for and administration of Dutch examinations, along with the issuing of results certificates are all provided by SIMON & SIMON.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Back to top of Dutch Courses Reading

Dutch is a West Germanic language and the native language of the majority of the population of the Netherlands, Belgium, and Suriname, the three member states of the Dutch Language Union. Most speakers live in the European Union, where it is a first language for about 23 million and a second language for another 5 million people. It also holds official status in the Caribbean island nations of Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint-Maarten, while historical minorities remain in parts of France and Germany, and to a lesser extent, in Indonesia, and up to 600,000 native Dutch-speakers may be living in the United States, Canada, and Australia.

Reading is a large town and unitary authority area in England, located at the confluence of the River Thames and River Kennet, and on both the Great Western Main Line railway and the M4 motorway, some 40 miles (64 km) west of London. For ceremonial purposes it is in the Royal County of Berkshire and has served as the county town since 1867. Reading was an important national centre in the medieval period, as the site of an important monastery with strong royal connections. Today it remains a commercial centre, with links to information technology and insurance. Reading also hosts two universities, a large student population, and is home to one of England's biggest music festivals. The settlement was founded at the confluence of the River Thames and River Kennet in the 8th century as Readingum. The name probably comes from the Readingas, an Anglo-Saxon tribe whose name means "Reada's People" in Old English, or (less probably) the Celtic Rhydd-Inge, "Ford over the River". The name of the settlement was derived from an earlier folk, or tribal, name. Anglo-Saxon names ending in -ingas originally referred not to a place but to a people, in this case specifically the descendants or followers of a man named Reada, literally "The Red One."
