Both professionals and non-professionals alike have seen great benefits from a SIMON & SIMON Dutch Language Course. SIMON & SIMON’s team of qualified Dutch teachers is made up of native speakers who average 15 years of experience. These teachers will make sure that a course is tailored for your specific needs so that you will benefit regardless of your language proficiency. Feedback from clients on our Dutch tutors is consistently highly positive. Our students are sent a profile containing information on their specific teacher’s experience and background before the start of their Dutch Lessons.

Maybe your only knowledge of studying languages is what you remember from school. Modern language teaching has recently changed to be much more entertaining and rewarding. Your Dutch lessons in Hertfordshire will be carried out almost completely in Dutch. This is the Communicative Approach and by this method you will notice progress from the initial lesson. You will soon feel confident and able to use Dutch to communicate in various business and social situations.

Dutch courses from us can be run for groups or individuals. While many of our clients offer their employees Dutch courses on a 1:1 basis, group sessions can be excellent value. Group sessions do require planning and commitment from the participants and we recommend that no more than 6 people participate in a group. As 1:1 lessons can be tailored to an individual’s needs, strengths and weaknesses, learning Dutch in Hertfordshire on a 1:1 basis will give quicker progress.

Dutch Course Management

One of our highly experienced, multilingual Account managers oversees each SIMON & SIMON Dutch language course. On starting your Dutch course you will receive various materials including a profile on your trainer, a Course Plan and course materials and a Progress Report on every 40 hours of your training. Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter, which contains weblinks to various language learning sources and a prize draw, will also be sent to you.

The Dutch language courses of SIMON & SIMON have been run in numerous locations. As we have a global network of language trainers your Dutch language course can be arranged in major cities across Europe and further afield. Most of our clients arrange for their Dutch lessons to be run in their offices so that there is less need for travel, but we can also run Dutch lessons in your home. We also run residential full-time Dutch language courses in a variety of locations which our office will be happy to inform you of.

Hertfordshire Dutch Course Schedules

The Dutch language courses in Hertfordshire that we run go on through the year. Each week, most of our students will attend at least one of our 90-minute lessons, but many will do more. We can easily arrange Weekend Courses for you. Dutch courses run from Monday to Friday, any time from 8am to 8pm. Intensive Dutch language courses can be arranged in residential centres abroad or in the UK, or on clients’ premises for 30 hours per week, 6 hours a day Monday to Friday.

Before you start your Dutch language course we will assess your level of Dutch and speak to you about your aims so that your Dutch language course can be customised for you. You may have never been exposed to Dutch before and wish to develop basic survival skills, or you may have some experience and wish to be able to speak more fluently in Dutch when discussing business. You may want to further your ability to use Dutch in negotiations and meetings or better your comprehension and pronunciation abilities. Whatever goals you may have, our experienced Dutch language trainers will tailor your Dutch course so that your goals can be quickly met.

Dutch Language Examination Courses

We are happy to help in your preparation for any Dutch examinations. Our students have a 95% pass rate and we think that their success shows the value of our policy of working with above-average experienced Dutch teachers in Hertfordshire. Issuing of results certificates, registration for Dutch examinations and administration of such exams is also provided by SIMON & SIMON.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Dutch is a West Germanic language and the native language of the majority of the population of the Netherlands, Belgium, and Suriname, the three member states of the Dutch Language Union. Most speakers live in the European Union, where it is a first language for about 23 million and a second language for another 5 million people. It also holds official status in the Caribbean island nations of Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint-Maarten, while historical minorities remain in parts of France and Germany, and to a lesser extent, in Indonesia, and up to 600,000 native Dutch-speakers may be living in the United States, Canada, and Australia.

Hertfordshire is a ceremonial and non-metropolitan county in the East region of England. The county town is Hertford. The county is one of the Home Counties and lies inland, bordered by Greater London (to the south), Buckinghamshire (to the west), Bedfordshire (including the unitary authorities of Luton and Central Bedfordshire to the north), Cambridgeshire (to the north east) and Essex (to the east). Hertfordshire was originally the area assigned to a fortress constructed at Hertford under the rule of Edward the Elder in 913. The name Hertford is derived from the Anglo-Saxon heort ford, meaning deer crossing (of a watercourse). The name Hertfordshire first appears in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle in 1011. Deer feature prominently in many county emblems. There is evidence of human beings living in Hertfordshire since the Middle Stone Age. It was first farmed during the Neolithic period and permanent habitation appeared at the beginning of the Bronze Age. This was followed by tribes settling in the area during the Iron Age.
