Dutch Course Management

Most of our Dutch courses are run at the offices of our clients so that you do not have to travel, but we are happy to arrange Dutch training sessions for you in your home. Glasgow Dutch Course Schedules

Our Dutch language courses in Glasgow take place throughout the year. Many of our students try to attend more than one weekly lesson if work commitments allow, and most will attend at least one session of 90-minutes duration per week. If you would like a Weekend Course, one can be arranged. Our Dutch daytime courses run from 8am through to 8pm, Monday - Friday. We also provide Intensive Dutch language courses on clients’ premises or in residential centres both in the UK and abroad. These courses run for 30 hours of the week, 6 hours a day from Monday to Friday.

The Dutch language course that you undertake will be customised for your Dutch level and personal goals. Before you start the course, we will speak to you about your desired focus and assess you Dutch level. You may have little or no experience of Dutch and only want basic conversational skills or you may be more proficient and desire more fluency with which to discuss business. You may want to raise your Dutch skills for use in meetings and negotiations or rather develop increased comprehension and pronunciation skills. Whatever your objectives, our Dutch language trainers are highly experienced, and you can be confident that your personalised Dutch course will help you to meet your goals quickly.

Dutch Language Examination Courses

SIMON & SIMON also assists in preparation for Dutch examinations, whether for business or personal qualification. We believe that our 95% pass rate for language examinations is a reflection of our policy of working with Dutch teachers in Glasgow who possess above average experience. Registration for and administration of Dutch examinations, along with the issuing of results certificates are all provided by SIMON & SIMON.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Dutch is a West Germanic language and the native language of the majority of the population of the Netherlands, Belgium, and Suriname, the three member states of the Dutch Language Union. Most speakers live in the European Union, where it is a first language for about 23 million and a second language for another 5 million people. It also holds official status in the Caribbean island nations of Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint-Maarten, while historical minorities remain in parts of France and Germany, and to a lesser extent, in Indonesia, and up to 600,000 native Dutch-speakers may be living in the United States, Canada, and Australia.

Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland and third most populous in the United Kingdom. The city is situated on the River Clyde in the country's west central lowlands. A person from Glasgow is known as a Glaswegian or as locals say "weegie". Glasgow grew from the medieval Bishopric of Glasgow and the later establishment of the University of Glasgow in the 15th century, which subsequently became a major centre of the Scottish Enlightenment in the 18th century. From the 18th century the city also grew as one of Britain's main hubs of transatlantic trade with British North America and the British West Indies.
