We consistently receive excellent feedback on our Czech tutors from our clients, and we send our students a profile on their Czech tutor prior to their Czech lessons commencing, with information on the tutor's background and experience.

New teaching approaches have revolutionised how modern language training is now approached. This training, with more fun and a more worthwhile experience means that it’s a far cry from what you may remember of studying languages in school. When you start a Czech course in Reading, you will make progress from the very first lesson, as almost everything will be done in Czech. This is known as the Communicative Approach, and means that your confidence and ability will soon grow so that you can use Czech to communicate in social and business settings.

Our Czech language courses are available on both a 1:1 and group basis, but the majority of our clients offer 1:1 Czech training to their employees. However, with careful planning, group training can offer great value for money, provided there is a real commitment from the participants to get together at the same time every week. We strongly recommend you keep group numbers to 6 or less for these types of courses to be successful. Those learning Czech in at Reading on a 1:1 basis will naturally make much faster progress, as the course will be designed around their individual needs and focus on their particular strengths and weaknesses.

We run our Czech language courses in Reading all through the year. Many of our students, if work commitments allow, will attend more than one session weekly, and the vast majority take part in at least one 90-minute lesson weekly. We also arrange weekend Czech courses on request. Our Czech programs commence from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday. Whatever your personal level of experience and future goals, your Czech course will be customised for you. Before you start the course we will assess your level of Czech and discuss in detail what you would like to focus on. You may desire simply to gain everyday Czech skills from the level of a complete beginner, or you may have more experience in Czech and want to improve your ability to discuss banking, finance or marketing. You may want to develop improved pronunciation and comprehension skills or improve your Czech for use in negotiations and meetings. Whatever your goals and needs, our highly experienced Czech language trainers will tailor your Czech course so that your goals will be met quickly.

Czech Language Examination Courses

If you are taking a Czech examination, for business or other reasons, we are happy to help you with your preparations. We are very proud of the 95% pass rate of our students in language examinations. We believe this highlights the value of working with Czech teachers in Reading whose experience is above average. SIMON & SIMON can also register you for your Czech examination, administer the examination and issue you your results.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Breaking the Language Barrier

Back to top of Czech Courses Reading

Czech is a West Slavic language with about 12 million native speakers; it is the majority language in the Czech Republic and spoken by Czechs worldwide. The language was known as Bohemian in English until the late 19th century. Czech is similar to and mutually intelligible with Slovak and, to a considerably lesser extent, to Polish and Sorbian.

Reading is a large town and unitary authority area in England, located at the confluence of the River Thames and River Kennet, and on both the Great Western Main Line railway and the M4 motorway, some 40 miles (64 km) west of London. For ceremonial purposes it is in the Royal County of Berkshire and has served as the county town since 1867. Reading was an important national centre in the medieval period, as the site of an important monastery with strong royal connections. Today it remains a commercial centre, with links to information technology and insurance. Reading also hosts two universities, a large student population, and is home to one of England's biggest music festivals. The settlement was founded at the confluence of the River Thames and River Kennet in the 8th century as Readingum. The name probably comes from the Readingas, an Anglo-Saxon tribe whose name means "Reada's People" in Old English, or (less probably) the Celtic Rhydd-Inge, "Ford over the River". The name of the settlement was derived from an earlier folk, or tribal, name. Anglo-Saxon names ending in -ingas originally referred not to a place but to a people, in this case specifically the descendants or followers of a man named Reada, literally "The Red One."
