The Communicative Approach means that your Czech lessons in Bedfordshire will be almost entirely through the medium of Czech. You will feel that you are making real progress, even in the first lesson, and will soon communicate in Czech with confidence, in a range of social and business environments. We offer Czech courses as group sessions or on a 1:1 basis/ Most of our clients offer their employees 1:1 Czech training, however, if planned carefully, with participants numbering 6 or less who commit to meeting every week, group sessions can be good value for money.
Those who learn Czech at Bedfordshire on a 1:1 basis will find that they progress more quickly, as the lessons can be specifically tailored for their individual needs, strengths and weaknesses. Czech Course ManagementEach of SIMON & SIMON’s Czech languages courses is the responsibility of a multi-lingual, very experienced Account Manager.
When you start your Czech course, you will receive your trainer’s profile. Thereafter we will send you a Course Plan, materials for the course and, after each 40 hours of training, a Progress Report. Our quarterly newsletter, Breaking the Language Barrier, will also reach you, and contains a prize draw as well as the weblinks of language learning resources. The vast majority of our Czech lessons take place at our clients' offices, removing the need for you to travel, but Czech lessons can take place in your home if that is more convenient.
We can also arrange full-time residential Czech language courses for you - just contact our office for information on available destinations. Bedfordshire Czech Course SchedulesOur Czech language courses in Bedfordshire take place throughout the year. Many of our students try to attend more than one weekly lesson if work commitments allow, and most will attend at least one session of 90-minutes duration per week.
If you would like a Weekend Course, one can be arranged. Our Czech daytime courses run from 8am through to 8pm, Monday - Friday.
We also provide Intensive Czech language courses on clients’ premises or in residential centres both in the UK and abroad. These courses run for 30 hours of the week, 6 hours a day from Monday to Friday. The Czech language course that you undertake will be customised for your Czech level and personal goals. Before you start the course, we will speak to you about your desired focus and assess you Czech level.
You may have little or no experience of Czech and only want basic conversational skills or you may be more proficient and desire more fluency with which to discuss business.
You may want to raise your Czech skills for use in meetings and negotiations or rather develop increased comprehension and pronunciation skills.
Whatever your objectives, our Czech language trainers are highly experienced, and you can be confident that your personalised Czech course will help you to meet your goals quickly. Czech Language Examination CoursesSIMON & SIMON also assists in preparation for Czech examinations, whether for business or personal qualification. We believe that our 95% pass rate for language examinations is a reflection of our policy of working with Czech teachers in Bedfordshire who possess above average experience.
Registration for and administration of Czech examinations, along with the issuing of results certificates are all provided by SIMON & SIMON. The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.
Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

SIMON & SIMON International Breaking the Language Barrier Back to top of Czech Courses Bedfordshire Czech is a West Slavic language with about 12 million native speakers; it is the majority language in the Czech Republic and spoken by Czechs worldwide. The language was known as Bohemian in English until the late 19th century. Czech is similar to and mutually intelligible with Slovak and, to a considerably lesser extent, to Polish and Sorbian. Bedfordshire is a ceremonial county of historic origin in England that forms part of the East of England region. It borders Cambridgeshire to the north-east, Northamptonshire to the north, Buckinghamshire to the west and Hertfordshire to the south-east. The highest elevation point is 243 metres (797 ft) on Dunstable Downs in the Chilterns.
As part of a 2002 marketing campaign, the plant conservation charity Plantlife chose the Bee Orchid as the county flower. The traditional nickname for people from Bedfordshire is "Bedfordshire Bulldogs" or "Clangers", this last deriving from a local dish comprising a suet crust dumpling filled with meat or jam or both.
The first recorded use of the name was in 1011 as "Bedanfordscir," meaning the shire or county of Bedford, which itself means "Beda's ford" (river crossing). Bedfordshire was historically divided into the nine hundreds: Barford, Biggleswade, Clifton, Flitt, Manshead, Redbournestoke, Stodden, Willey, Wixamtree, along with the liberty and borough of Bedford. There have been several minor changes to the county boundary; for example, in 1897 Kensworth and part of Caddington were transferred from Hertfordshire to Bedfordshire.
