Tyne-and-Wear Croatian Course Schedules

Our Croatian language courses in Tyne-and-Wear take place throughout the year. Many of our students try to attend more than one weekly lesson if work commitments allow, and most will attend at least one session of 90-minutes duration per week. If you would like a Weekend Course, one can be arranged. Our Croatian daytime courses run from 8am through to 8pm, Monday - Friday. We also provide Intensive Croatian language courses on clients’ premises or in residential centres both in the UK and abroad. These courses run for 30 hours of the week, 6 hours a day from Monday to Friday.

The Croatian language course that you undertake will be customised for your Croatian level and personal goals. Before you start the course, we will speak to you about your desired focus and assess you Croatian level. You may have little or no experience of Croatian and only want basic conversational skills or you may be more proficient and desire more fluency with which to discuss business. You may want to raise your Croatian skills for use in meetings and negotiations or rather develop increased comprehension and pronunciation skills. Whatever your objectives, our Croatian language trainers are highly experienced, and you can be confident that your personalised Croatian course will help you to meet your goals quickly.

Croatian Language Examination Courses

SIMON & SIMON also assists in preparation for Croatian examinations, whether for business or personal qualification. Registration for and administration of Croatian examinations, along with the issuing of results certificates are all provided by SIMON & SIMON.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Croatian is the collective name for the standard language and dialects spoken by Croats, principally in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Serbian province of Vojvodina and other neighbouring countries. They are varieties of the Serbo-Croatian language, along with Serbian, Bosnian, and Montenegrin. Standard and literary Croatian is based on the central dialect, Shtokavian, more specifically on Eastern Herzegovinian, which is also the basis of standard Serbian, Bosnian, and Montenegrin.

Tyne and Wear is a metropolitan county in North East England around the mouths of the Rivers Tyne and Wear. It came into existence as a metropolitan county in 1974 after the passage of the Local Government Act 1972. It consists of the five metropolitan boroughs of South Tyneside, North Tyneside, City of Newcastle upon Tyne, Gateshead and the City of Sunderland. North Tyneside and Newcastle upon Tyne had previously existed within the historic county of Northumberland, whereas South Tyneside, Gateshead and Sunderland were all previously within the borders of County Durham, with the River Tyne forming the border of the two counties. Tyne and Wear is bounded on the east by the North Sea, and as a Ceremonial county, shares borders with Northumberland to the north and County Durham to the south. Tyne and Wear County Council was abolished in 1986, and so its districts (the metropolitan boroughs) are now effectively unitary authorities. However, the metropolitan county continues to exist in law and as a geographic frame of reference.
