Chinese Courses for Business in Sunderland

Please click a title below for further information:

Designed and customised for the individual student’s needs, SIMON & SIMON’s Chinese courses, taught by a team of qualified native Chinese speakers who average 15 years of experience, have already benefited professionals and non-professionals across the UK. Courses cater for all levels of experience. The feedback on our Chinese tutors that we receive from our clients is consistently excellent. Prior to the start of your Chinese course, you will be sent a profile on your specific Chinese teacher’s experience and background.

Maybe your only knowledge of studying languages is what you remember from school. Modern language teaching has recently changed to be much more entertaining and rewarding. Your Chinese lessons in Sunderland will be carried out almost completely in Chinese. This is the Communicative Approach and by this method you will notice progress from the initial lesson. You will soon feel confident and able to use Chinese to communicate in various business and social situations.

Our Chinese language courses are available on both a 1:1 and group basis, but the majority of our clients offer 1:1 Chinese training to their employees. However, with careful planning, group training can offer great value for money, provided there is a real commitment from the participants to get together at the same time every week. We strongly recommend you keep group numbers to 6 or less for these types of courses to be successful. Those learning Chinese in at Sunderland on a 1:1 basis will naturally make much faster progress, as the course will be designed around their individual needs and focus on their particular strengths and weaknesses.

Chinese Course Management

Every SIMON & SIMON Chinese language course has a highly experienced, multi-lingual Account Manager who oversees it. When your Chinese course starts you will be sent a profile on your trainer, materials for your course and a Course Plan as well as a Progress Report for every 40 hours of training. Breaking the Language Barrier, our quarterly newsletter that you will also receive, contains a prize draw as well as weblinks to a number of learning resources.

SIMON & SIMON’s Chinese language courses have been run for clients in many different locations. With a global network of language trainers a Chinese language course can be held in almost any major city throughout Europe and elsewhere. We can arrange Chinese language courses in your home or, as many of our clients prefer, in your offices to remove the need for you to travel. Full-time residential Chinese language courses are also an option. For a list of locations, please contact our office.

Sunderland Chinese Course Schedules

The Chinese language courses in Sunderland that we run go on through the year. Each week, most of our students will attend at least one of our 90-minute lessons, but many will do more. We can easily arrange Weekend Courses for you. Chinese courses run from Monday to Friday, any time from 8am to 8pm. Intensive Chinese language courses can be arranged in residential centres abroad or in the UK, or on clients’ premises for 30 hours per week, 6 hours a day Monday to Friday.

Before you start your Chinese language course we will assess your level of Chinese and speak to you about your aims so that your Chinese language course can be customised for you. You may have never been exposed to Chinese before and wish to develop basic survival skills, or you may have some experience and wish to be able to speak more fluently in Chinese when discussing business. You may want to further your ability to use Chinese in negotiations and meetings or better your comprehension and pronunciation abilities. Whatever goals you may have, our experienced Chinese language trainers will tailor your Chinese course so that your goals can be quickly met.

Chinese Language Examination Courses

We are happy to help in your preparation for any Chinese examinations. Our students have a 95% pass rate and we think that their success shows the value of our policy of working with above-average experienced Chinese teachers in Sunderland. Issuing of results certificates, registration for Chinese examinations and administration of such exams is also provided by SIMON & SIMON.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Standard Chinese is a standardized form of spoken Chinese, based on the Beijing dialect of Mandarin Chinese. Standard Chinese is the official language of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Republic of China (ROC, also known as Taiwan), as well as one of four official languages of Singapore. It is one of the six official languages of the United Nations. About one-fifth of the world’s population, or over one billion people, speaks some variety of Chinese as their native language. Linguists often view Chinese as a language family, though owing to China's socio-political and cultural situation, and the fact that all spoken varieties use one common written system, it is customary to refer to these generally mutually unintelligible variants as "the Chinese language".

The City of Sunderland is a local government district of Tyne and Wear, in North East England, with the status of a city and metropolitan borough. It is named after its largest settlement, Sunderland, but covers a far larger area which includes the towns of Hetton-le-Hole, Houghton-le-Spring, Washington, and a range of suburban villages. The district was formed in 1974 as the Metropolitan Borough of Sunderland as part of the provisions of the Local Government Act 1972 and is an amalgamation of four former local government districts of County Durham. It was granted city status in 1992, the 40th anniversary of the Queen Elizabeth II's accession. The city had a population of 280,807 at the time of the 2001 census, with the majority of the population (177,739) residing in Sunderland. The metropolitan borough was formed in 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972 by the merger of several districts of County Durham - Washington Urban District, Houghton-le-Spring Urban District and Hetton Urban District - with the County Borough of Sunderland. The metropolitan borough was granted city status in 1992, the 40th anniversary of the Queen's accession. At the Queen's Golden Jubilee the city petitioned to be allowed a Lord Mayor, but was unsuccessful. Although the city does not have a Cathedral, as it is located in the Diocese of Durham, it does have Sunderland Minster.
