Stafford Chinese Course Schedules

The Chinese language courses in Stafford that we run go on through the year. Each week, most of our students will attend at least one of our 90-minute lessons, but many will do more. We can easily arrange Weekend Courses for you. Chinese courses run from Monday to Friday, any time from 8am to 8pm. Intensive Chinese language courses can be arranged in residential centres abroad or in the UK, or on clients’ premises for 30 hours per week, 6 hours a day Monday to Friday.

Before you start your Chinese language course we will assess your level of Chinese and speak to you about your aims so that your Chinese language course can be customised for you. Standard Chinese is a standardized form of spoken Chinese, based on the Beijing dialect of Mandarin Chinese. Standard Chinese is the official language of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Republic of China (ROC, also known as Taiwan), as well as one of four official languages of Singapore. It is one of the six official languages of the United Nations. About one-fifth of the world’s population, or over one billion people, speaks some variety of Chinese as their native language. Linguists often view Chinese as a language family, though owing to China's socio-political and cultural situation, and the fact that all spoken varieties use one common written system, it is customary to refer to these generally mutually unintelligible variants as "the Chinese language".

Stafford is the county town of Staffordshire, in the West Midlands region of England. It lies approximately 16 miles (26 km) north of Wolverhampton and 18 miles (29 km) south of Stoke-on-Trent, adjacent to the M6 motorway Junction 13 to Junction 14. The population of Stafford was given in the 2001 census as 63,681, with that of the wider borough of Stafford as 122,000, making Stafford the fourth largest settlement in the Ceremonial county, after Stoke on Trent, Tamworth and Newcastle under Lyme. Stafford means 'ford' by a 'staithe' (landing place). The original settlement was on an island in the middle of the marshes of the River Sow, a tributary of the River Trent. There is still a large area of marshland northwest of the town, which has always been subject to flooding, such as in 1947, 2000 and 2007. It's thought Stafford was founded in about 700 AD by Mercian prince called Bertelin who, according to legend, established a hermitage on a secluded marshy island. The remains of a wooden preaching cross were discovered under the foundations of St Bertelin's Church in the centre of the town.
