Many professionals in companies across the UK, as well as private individuals, have benefited from an Chinese Language Course with SIMON & SIMON. We have a terrific team of qualified native-speaker Chinese teachers, and with an average of 15 years' experience they will ensure you benefit from a course designed specifically around your needs, whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced learner with more specialised requirements. We consistently receive excellent feedback on our Chinese tutors from our clients, and we send our students a profile on their Chinese tutor prior to their Chinese lessons commencing, with information on the tutor's background and experience.

Modern language teaching is now approached much differently to how you might remember learning languages in school. The experience is now much more fun and rewarding. The Communicative Approach, where your Chinese teacher will conduct your lessons almost entirely in Chinese means that progress is made from your very first lesson. Soon, you will have such confidence that using Chinese in a social or business setting will be no problem.

Our Chinese courses are usually offered by our clients as 1:1 training for their employees. Group sessions, however, are also available and can be excellent value for money. Planning is required so that participants all meet at the same time each week, and we recommend that numbers are kept to 6 or less. 1:1 Chinese lessons at Oxfordshire mean that you will have your individual needs, weaknesses and strengths catered for, so that your progress is quicker.

Chinese Course Management

Every SIMON & SIMON Chinese language course is overseen by one of our highly experienced Account Managers, all of whom are multi-lingual. At the start of your Chinese language course we will send you a profile on your trainer, followed by a Course Plan and relevant course materials, and then a Progress Report after every 40 hours of training. You will also receive a copy of our quarterly newsletter, Breaking the Language Barrier, featuring a superb prize draw and invaluable weblinks to language learning sources.

Chinese language courses have been run by SIMON & SIMON in many locations. Our global network of language trainers means that any major city in the UK Europe, and beyond can hold your Chinese language course. We can arrange your Chinese language lessons for your own home, but many of our clients like to run them in their offices so as to minimise travel. Residential full-time Chinese language courses are also available. Our office can discuss available locations with you.

Oxfordshire Chinese Course Schedules

We run Chinese language courses in Oxfordshire all year. Most of our students participate in no less than one 90-minute lesson per week, but many students will participate in more if work commitments allow. Weekend Courses can be facilitated, and our Chinese weekday courses run from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 8pm. Intensive Chinese language courses are also available and can be run at the client’s premises or a residential centre in the UK or overseas. These courses take place over 6 hours a day, Monday through Friday, for 30 hours per week.

Your Chinese language course’s content will be tailored to your experience and goals. Prior to the course, we will assess your Chinese language level and speak to you comprehensively about the areas and subjects you are interested in. Students may be complete novices who need everyday Chinese conversational skills or have more proficiency in Chinese and wish to be able to discuss various business topics such as banking or finance more fluently. Students may desire to bolster their Chinese for negotiations and meetings or focus on gaining better listening, pronunciation and comprehension skills. No matter what your needs, you can be confident that our very experienced Chinese language trainers will work with you on a Chinese language course that is tailored for you so that you quickly meet your goals.

Chinese Language Examination Courses

Chinese examination preparation for business or other examinations can also be assisted with. Our students boast a 95% rate of passing such examinations, proving the value of our policy of Chinese teachers in Oxfordshire with experience above the average. SIMON & SIMON also organises registration and administration of Chinese examinations as well as issuing results certificates as a part of our service.

The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Standard Chinese is a standardized form of spoken Chinese, based on the Beijing dialect of Mandarin Chinese. Standard Chinese is the official language of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Republic of China (ROC, also known as Taiwan), as well as one of four official languages of Singapore. It is one of the six official languages of the United Nations. About one-fifth of the world’s population, or over one billion people, speaks some variety of Chinese as their native language. Linguists often view Chinese as a language family, though owing to China's socio-political and cultural situation, and the fact that all spoken varieties use one common written system, it is customary to refer to these generally mutually unintelligible variants as "the Chinese language".

Oxfordshire is a county in the South East region of England, bordering on Warwickshire, Northamptonshire (to the north/northeast), Buckinghamshire (to the east), Berkshire (to the south), Wiltshire and Swindon (to the southwest), Gloucestershire (to the west) and Warwickshire (to the north). It is divided into five local government districts: Oxford, Cherwell, Vale of White Horse (after the Uffington White Horse), West Oxfordshire and South Oxfordshire. The county has a major tourist industry. The area is noted for the concentration of performance motorsport companies and facilities. Oxford University Press is the largest firm among a concentration of print and publishing firms; the University of Oxford is also linked to the concentration of local biotechnology companies. The main centre of population is the city of Oxford. Other significant settlements are Banbury, Bicester, Kidlington, and Chipping Norton to the north of Oxford; Witney to the west; Thame and Chinnor to the east; and Abingdon, Wantage, Didcot, Wallingford and Henley-on-Thames to the south. Future population growth in the county is hoped to be concentrated around Oxford, Banbury, Bicester, Didcot and Witney, near the South Midlands growth area. The highest point of the administrative county is White Horse Hill, in the Vale of White Horse, reaching 261 metres (856 ft). The highest point in the historic county is near Portobello Farm in the Chiltern Hills at 255 metres. Oxfordshire's county flower is the Snake's-head Fritillary.
