Chinese Course Management

Each of SIMON & SIMON’s Chinese languages courses is the responsibility of a multi-lingual, very experienced Account Manager. When you start your Chinese course, you will receive your trainer’s profile. Thereafter we will send you a Course Plan, materials for the course and, after each 40 hours of training, a Progress Report. Our quarterly newsletter, Breaking the Language Barrier, will also reach you, and contains a prize draw as well as the weblinks of language learning resources.

SIMON & SIMON Chinese language courses have been arranged for clients in various locations. We have a global network of trainers and wherever you are, we will be able to organise a Chinese language course for you, not only in the UK but in almost any of the major cities in Europe and beyond. Most of our Chinese courses are run at the offices of our clients so that you do not have to travel, but we are happy to arrange Chinese training sessions for you in your home. Isle-of-Wight Chinese Course Schedules

We run Chinese language courses in Isle-of-Wight all year. Most of our students participate in no less than one 90-minute lesson per week, but many students will participate in more if work commitments allow. Weekend Courses can be facilitated, and our Chinese weekday courses run from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 8pm. Intensive Chinese language courses are also available and can be run at the client’s premises or a residential centre in the UK or overseas. These courses take place over 6 hours a day, Monday through Friday, for 30 hours per week.

Your Chinese language course’s content will be tailored to your experience and goals. Prior to the course, we will assess your Chinese language level and speak to you comprehensively about the areas and subjects you are interested in. Students may be complete novices who need everyday Chinese conversational skills or have more proficiency in Chinese and wish to be able to discuss various business topics such as banking or finance more fluently. Students may desire to bolster their Chinese for negotiations and meetings or focus on gaining better listening, pronunciation and comprehension skills. No matter what your needs, you can be confident that our very experienced Chinese language trainers will work with you on a Chinese language course that is tailored for you so that you quickly meet your goals.

Chinese Language Examination Courses

Chinese examination preparation for business or other examinations can also be assisted with. Our students boast a 95% rate of passing such examinations, proving the value of our policy of Chinese teachers in Isle-of-Wight with experience above the average. The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. A highly motivated student attending weekly sessions with their language trainer can expect to move from one level to another after 50 hours providing they also commit to a similar number of hours of self-study.

Of course, some people find learning languages easier than others, and some students will have more opportunities to practise the language in the course of their work and leisure, so these factors also need to be considered when trying to assess how long it will take to move from one level to another.

Standard Chinese is a standardized form of spoken Chinese, based on the Beijing dialect of Mandarin Chinese. Standard Chinese is the official language of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Republic of China (ROC, also known as Taiwan), as well as one of four official languages of Singapore. It is one of the six official languages of the United Nations. About one-fifth of the world’s population, or over one billion people, speaks some variety of Chinese as their native language. Linguists often view Chinese as a language family, though owing to China's socio-political and cultural situation, and the fact that all spoken varieties use one common written system, it is customary to refer to these generally mutually unintelligible variants as "the Chinese language".

The Isle of Wight is a county and the largest island of England, located in the English Channel, 3–5 miles (5–8 km) off the south coast of the county of Hampshire, separated from the mainland by a strait called the Solent. The island is known for its natural beauty, its sailing based at the town of Cowes, and its resorts, which have been holiday destinations since Victorian times.
