York Bosnian Course Schedules

We run Bosnian language courses in York all year. Most of our students participate in no less than one 90-minute lesson per week, but many students will participate in more if work commitments allow. Weekend Courses can be facilitated, and our Bosnian weekday courses run from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 8pm. Intensive Bosnian language courses are also available and can be run at the client’s premises or a residential centre in the UK or overseas. These courses take place over 6 hours a day, Monday through Friday, for 30 hours per week.

Your Bosnian language course’s content will be tailored to your experience and goals. Prior to the course, we will assess your Bosnian language level and speak to you comprehensively about the areas and subjects you are interested in. Students may be complete novices who need everyday Bosnian conversational skills or have more proficiency in Bosnian and wish to be able to discuss various business topics such as banking or finance more fluently. Students may desire to bolster their Bosnian for negotiations and meetings or focus on gaining better listening, pronunciation and comprehension skills. Bosnian Language Examination Courses

Bosnian examination preparation for business or other examinations can also be assisted with. The table below is based on recognised language levels used by various academic institutions accross the European Union. Bosnian is a name commonly used for Serbo-Croatian as spoken by Bosniaks. As a standardized form of the Shtokavian dialect, it is one of three Serbo-Croatian standards used officially in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The same subdialect of Shtokavian is also the basis of standard Croatian, Serbian, and Montenegrin, so all are mutually intelligible. Up until the dissolution of former SFR Yugoslavia, they were treated as a unitary Serbo-Croatian language, and that term is still used to refer to the common base (vocabulary, grammar and syntax) of what are today officially four national standards. The Bosnian standard uses both Latin and Cyrillic alphabet.

York is a walled city, situated at the confluence of the Rivers Ouse and Foss in North Yorkshire, England. The city has a rich heritage and has provided the backdrop to major political events throughout much of its two millennia of existence. The city was founded by the Romans in 71 AD. They called it Eboracum, a name perhaps derived from one used by the British tribes who inhabited the area. The Romans made it the capital of their Province of Britannia Inferior. While the Roman colonia and fortress were located on high ground, by 400 the town itself was victim to periodic flooding from the rivers Ouse and Foss and lay abandoned. In the early 5th century the area was settled by Angles, who called the town Eoforwic. Reclamation of the flooded parts of the town were initiated in the 7th century under King Edwin. The city came to be the episcopal, and later, royal centre of the Kingdom of Northumbria.
