Sunderland Bosnian Course Schedules

Our Bosnian language courses in Sunderland take place throughout the year. Many of our students try to attend more than one weekly lesson if work commitments allow, and most will attend at least one session of 90-minutes duration per week. If you would like a Weekend Course, one can be arranged. Our Bosnian daytime courses run from 8am through to 8pm, Monday - Friday. We also provide Intensive Bosnian language courses on clients’ premises or in residential centres both in the UK and abroad. These courses run for 30 hours of the week, 6 hours a day from Monday to Friday.

Bosnian is a name commonly used for Serbo-Croatian as spoken by Bosniaks. As a standardized form of the Shtokavian dialect, it is one of three Serbo-Croatian standards used officially in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The same subdialect of Shtokavian is also the basis of standard Croatian, Serbian, and Montenegrin, so all are mutually intelligible. Up until the dissolution of former SFR Yugoslavia, they were treated as a unitary Serbo-Croatian language, and that term is still used to refer to the common base (vocabulary, grammar and syntax) of what are today officially four national standards. The Bosnian standard uses both Latin and Cyrillic alphabet.

The City of Sunderland is a local government district of Tyne and Wear, in North East England, with the status of a city and metropolitan borough. It is named after its largest settlement, Sunderland, but covers a far larger area which includes the towns of Hetton-le-Hole, Houghton-le-Spring, Washington, and a range of suburban villages. The district was formed in 1974 as the Metropolitan Borough of Sunderland as part of the provisions of the Local Government Act 1972 and is an amalgamation of four former local government districts of County Durham. It was granted city status in 1992, the 40th anniversary of the Queen Elizabeth II's accession. The city had a population of 280,807 at the time of the 2001 census, with the majority of the population (177,739) residing in Sunderland. At the Queen's Golden Jubilee the city petitioned to be allowed a Lord Mayor, but was unsuccessful. Although the city does not have a Cathedral, as it is located in the Diocese of Durham, it does have Sunderland Minster.
